Reading the posts here on AA about Radio Shack I decided to check out my local "Shacks" which are both in Winchester,VA about 30 miles away to see if there were any deals.

There are two Shacks in Winchester and quite oddly they are less than 500 yards apart! One on the main road and one in the mall behind it. Winchester is not a big town and neither are closing or had any deep discounted items.

Oh well

Quite a few Shacks here in Dayton Ohio. Most of the smaller ones are closing. 3 or 4 larger stores will survive. I hit two stores Sunday. Everything in the store was 80 to 95 percent off. Screaming deals.
One of the stores was pretty well picked over but still found some useful stuff.
Felt kind of sad...

"they are less than 500 years apart!"

In time, or in time travel with piezo crystals?

I was planning on heading for our local Radio Shack in the morning, hoping to find one of their small plastic enclosures I need for a cap, fuse and switch.

I mentioned it to my girlfriend tonight, and she told me it closed last week.

Damn the bad luck.

One of them sells computer parts, the other spare parts for your abacus.

I manage retail properties and Radio Shack is a tenant in 3 locations I handle. One location is set to close in the next few days. Another location is set to close after 30 days. The only problem is that the store is empty and the manager told me they are not bringing any merchandise there. Why bother keeping it open?

It's got its good points and bad. Plenty of urban sprawl. The old downtown is pretty nice. The area geography is great but I wouldn't live in Winchester or anywhere too close.

Sounds like management fails on a few levels.I guess that's part of the reason they're going away.

If you want one I have a few. Just email me and pay for shipping and a couple a bucks for gas, even the post office is a 20 mile round trip.
