Personally, I've always liked separate equipment so that I can upgrade just the part that I want to.

I'm not familiar with the new Marantz products and so can't really comment. If you're considering a DACMagic that does give us an idea of what your budget is, they seem to go for around $400.

You may want to move any other questions over to the PC Audio forum, there's a lot of people there who may be willing to help.

Ask a specific question and you will likely get a detailed answer. General questions are more difficult for us, we don't know where you're going.

You may also want to provide details on what type of files you will be playing back, either CD's you're ripped, downloaded files, etc.

That gives us an idea (maybe) of the type of quality you may be looking for.

Wait a minute. Are you sure that's going to be digital files? If so the DACMagic is a great place to start, but I would look for something used. You could get much better quality for the same bucks. It's not like a DAC is going to wear out.

I currently run an arcam 65 plus with mission speakers.
I am having virgin cable installed soon and eant the sound from the tv to go through my hi fi system.as well as this i want to connect a ps3 to the system and blue tooth my music from my android phone and ipod.
would the Cambridge audio dac magic plus solve this.( it has a blue tooth dongle)
would I be better off replacing my old arcam a65amp with a modern pm6005 amp with inbuilt dac and digital inputs or go down the road of purchasing a rotel ra 12 amp with a built in dac and bluetooth capability
would these two amps have a better sound than my old arcam?
I am at a loss what to do
and I would be grateful for advise
