(well partially anyway ;)

The following is Kathy Etchingham's (Jimi's girlfriend) account of her time spent with Jimi when they shared a flat in London:

Happy New Year to everybody. Thanks for this photo to Graham Tait in Edinburgh.

The photo is of Jimi in the Upper Berkeley Street flat adjusting the balance on the Leak Stereo 70 amplifie

Here’s Jimi using a turntable that Chas bought after we left Ringo’s place in Montagu Square.
Ringo had a rather basic setup so we wanted to get state-of-the-art replacements.
This is Chas’ Garrard but Jimi and I had a Bang & Olufsen turntable which we took to Brook Street.
To the right is the Fry’s Shooting Star award mentioned in my post about the Valentine’s Day award. It was later stolen from the Capital Radio building.

(below) Jimi Hendrix' favourite artist.
This is an album cover of Jimi's favourite artist.
Jimi used to play Cosby albums to everyone who came by our flat.
I think that if Jimi hadn't been a musician he would be a comedian because he could easily imitate Cosby's voice, as well as that of talk-show host David Frost, whose The Frost Report On Britain albums were also played to visitors. In private Jimi could mimic people brilliantly and learnt to slip in and out of the different types of English accents soon after he arrived. This is very difficult as each area of Britain has a unique accent.
Unlike many Americans he could do it really well so that it sounded natural.
We just had a few records at the beginning. I didn't have many even though I was a DJ at the Cromwellian and Scotch of St. James clubs.
Our record collection eventually became quite extensive and in 1996 I gave an interview to James Rotondi for a Guitar Player magazine article

This photo below is of Jimi and Eric Clapton with me, or rather, the back of my head, and Brandy, Eric's girlfriend, at the Bag O' Nails club some time in February 1967. Jimi is wearing his favourite rose patterned shirt I gave him and the old army jacket.

In those early days we were going to many parties and we all met up again together with all of the Who at the launch party for Track Records

Great post. Love that Jimi loved Bill Cosby. I used to do his routines in speech and drama classes in junior high and high school. Sometimes I forget that these idols were just regular people, too.

Always great to read about a fellow audiophile. It does not hurt that the person is famous the world over.

Lowther loudspeakers that he is alleged to have used.

The story I have heard is that he had to have the voice coils replaced on a fairly regular basis.

Per Kathy Etchingham, Lowther literally repaired them while she waited.

Like the 401, too, and have one of my own. Wonder what the B&O deck was? Despite their shortcomings, Lowther's can often communicate so much more of the compelling characteristics of a performance than seems feasible for their technology. Sometime I miss their ilk.

I just bought 4 more of Jimi's recordings on eBay this past week. 'Crash Landing', 'The Cry Of Love', 'Band Of Gypsys' and 'Isle Of Wight'. Really looking forward to hearing them and hoping the pressings (Japanese) are nice.

I remember buying Crash landing in H.S. back in '74; kinda-sorta Hendrix but we took what we could get.

Been a huge fan since age 11 (1971).

The top picture of the OP's post shows Jimi with a Leak 30 (15 wpc) integrated amplifier, not the Leak 70 as commonly reported.
