This one was a real head scratcher. Some guy bought a pair of Velodyne headphones on sale and then sold them on Amazon for the regular price. He then got an email supposedly from a firm called "Sock and Bruster Internet Policing Services Inc. LPC, Legal Prosecution and Collection Agency" (who apparently don't even exist) with all kinds of threats. Here's an excerpt:

"We are forthwith enlisted our services to protect price integrity by seeking public fractures and selling contract terms and illegal selling of products by unauthorized distributors and dealers on the internet in the USA and overseas."

Public fractures? Whoa! Pretty wacky stuff.

If anything, the reseller might have a legal case against the manufacturer. Using false enforcement authority (threatening jail time) is deemed a misdemeanor offense in most jurisdictions. Not to mention the use of a false lawfirm to carry out legal proceedings.

Wait! Am I allowed to say LMFAO? Or worse; Raper???

I love stupid people who claim to be something they are not. Kinda sounds like my ex-wife's lawyer!

Kinda reminds me of an old NYC attitude. Email 'em back to say "So SUE me!" Clearly a scam. I wonder if Monster's (so SUE me!) law firm is behind that crap. A quick call to Velodyne would surely clear it up.

They've just made the leap from 'companies I have little interest in' to 'companies I will NEVER BUY PRODUCTS FROM'.

EVER.

IIRC, Velodyne was the company that refused to pay Stereophile for ads that had already run, because they didn't like a review. Maybe in the late 1990's?

All of this is a real shame, because Velodyne makes some nice products. I've been using a Velodyne subwoofer for years. But I sure won't buy another one.

Happy listening,

So nice of you to reward their concern for your equipment resale value that way, posted on September 17, 2014 at 16:27:54
Me, I despise equipment that gets sold with big discounts (LMAO) and the grey market.

Yea sure they went too far with this "reseller" but rest assured components/equipment sold by company's that protect their retail prices will/should have higher resale value.

Is there any proof that the email actually CAME from Velodyne?
