A new guideline has been added to the "Posting
Rules at the Asylum". Your support of our efforts
to maintain the collegial spirit and credibility
of the Aslyum will be appreciated.

/audio/rules.html

>>Use of Monikers/Posting Names:

You may call yourself anything you like.
Monikers are allowed.
You don't have to use your real name.
You must be consistent and use only one name.
You can not post under other's names.

One of the values that drove the founding of
this forum is consistency. Generally speaking,
people like to know who is giving advice.
Using the same name over time builds credibility
and allows people to better evaluate the relative
merits of each poster's contributions relative to
system context, preferences, biases, etc.<<

After review and inspection of suspected abuses,
moderators will delete posts which violate the
guidelines listed above.

You forgot something:

no one else can use Jack G's Ò¿Ò

Also, what about first names like: Stephen, Tom, Frank, etc. which are somewhat common. A new person posting may not realize that they cannot use their name if someone already has used it. How will that be inforced?

when posters use the name to complete the thought of a subject line. Often these are funny, clever, or add to the thought in witty and time-saving ways. But given the trade-off, I agree with the moderators.

Yes.

>>How will that be inforced?
We will point out the guideline and ask
them to mdoify their moniker accordingly.

Since my real initials is J.P.M., you can call me J.P.,or you can call me Mr.M, and since I listen to vinyl, you can call me Vinylly, but most people call me S.O.B.

At least you post your e-mail regularly.
That helps me to follow your multiple
personalities.;-)

FWIW: I like Vinylly.
Has a ring of appropriateness to it.
Like some finylly discovering the
beauty of music made by a good analog
front end.

I guess I have already complied with this, changing my name from "Steve" to "The Audiophile Formerly Known As Steve". If this doesn't work, I'll have to use the moniker my technicians gave me at work: "Complete Idiot".

I was concurring with abeadonis (the post thats been deleted) that the email of vinylly in the posts was wrong, at least in one of them (to a question of mine he wrote 'DO I HAVE A DEAL FOR YOU!!!' and the email that I sent bounced). Not that I care .... but I wouldn't do such a thing.

...if you've been diagnosed as having multiple personalities? After all, that was reason I was sent to the Asylum.

Thanks, From each of me.

I wonder why no one has tried to pirate my name yet ? I'm glad because I think it's a nice name, and I'm keeping it. So nobody get any ideas.
Respectfully, slap slap Slappy

I don't think people here will like to be reminded that every line they write is being supervised. The moderator should not be "visible" as it is now.

anyway, thanx for the great forum, Omer.
