PAS3 noise from phono input.

 Hello-

I have a PAS3 that makes loud noises when I use the phono input. The line level works fine with no noise. Any ideas on how to fix the phono section problem?

 Is it a hum? Popping?

Have you tried cleaning and tightening the RCA input jacks? Have you done the same with the tube sockets? Have you tried swapping the 12AX7s between the phono and line stage? Have you compared your voltages to those listed in the PAS manual?

You don't give us anything to go on.

Sorry for the vague post. The noise really loud, it only occurs when using the phono input. The line input is not affected.

 Going from a description of "loud" to "really loud" doesn't give any more of an idea of the cause of the problem.

Please try the possible fixes I listed in my first response (tightening RCA connection, swapping tubes, etc) and if that doesn't work, post again with a clearer description of the noise, such as hum, popping, etc.

 I am looking to upgrade my pre amp for my ST 70, I just bought a Rotel 1580
RC1580 V02, I don't like the sound. I was using a Pas4, but it needs to rebuilt, and I don't want to put any money into it.
