For aesthetic reasons I want to replace the dented top cover from a PA060 transformer. I've sourced a suitable replacement. Any hints on how to proceed? Will the top cover come off easily after removing screws?

I think so. There are the nuts on the inside that should come off first, then watch out for the two metal clips that route the wires.

Possible problem is that there might be more nuts between the top side of the chassis and the transformer, in which case you might not be able to get the screws out, and even if you can you might not want to.

Thanks for your help. Yes, there are nuts between the transformer and the chassis. Is that what they call the isolation kit? What's the issue? Why might I not want to take these out?

They're not an isolation kit as we know it these days, unless there are also rubber-like washers there. Regardless, I think the nuts between the top of the chassis and the power transformer seem to be there to support the transformer. Maybe they were originally an attempt to reduce transfer of vibration from the power transformer to the chassis, I don't know.

Actually, now that I think of it some more, those nuts just hold the end bells on.

I am not sure if it's practical to remove the screws with those nuts there. But if you can get the screws removed, the nuts will be free, and I don't know how difficult it might be to get them all back together again after changing-out the top cover.

I see what you mean. One of the screws is partially covered by the cap board. Perhaps this is a job for the professionals? Thanks again for the insight.

Even without a cap board complicating things, replacing end bells on transformers that are already installed isn't real practical. The transformer would probably have to be disconnected and removed from the chassis. It's doable but entails a good deal of work and attention to detail.
