Has anyone on this forum constructed this kit from DIY HiFi Supply, What were your experiences?

The manual appears to be well designed, but are there any errors in the point to point wiring diagrams?

A previous kit from them I built did contain some errors but luckily I picked these up. For some less experienced people the amp would not have worked if they had followed the diagrams.
The diagrams need to be carefully checked against the schematic.

I'm in the process of buying an older Ella amp (circa 2004 I think) and looking for a schematic so I can assess what mods might have been doen to this amp.

I don't have this amp yet but hope to have it in my possession by late August.

Thanks for listening!

You can find the schematic of the circuit by downloading the manual for the current revised Ella from the DIY HiFi Supply website. This shows the basic circuit but not the power supply and biasing arrangements. I don't know if the schematic is different to the 2004 version but suspect that differences are mainly to do with the power supply and biasing modules used in the current amp.

Go to the Downloads section on the company homepage and download this file:

Hi,

I have built the Ergo Ella Amp in 2011. There were in fact several power supply wiring errors which caused immediate fuse blowout. I had contacted the DIY Hifi and they apologized and have since updated the wiring diagrams and schematics.

The amp sounds truly amazing especially with vintage HD recordings. I run 24/96 bit FLAC from a highend DAC directly into the Ergo Ella and output to Martin Logan Vistas. I have never compared this amp side by side with the likes of Rogue, Carey, MacIntosh but to my ears the musicality, soundstage, dynamics and timbre are in the same range of amps costing 5x more.

I'd recommend going with the cap and teflon socket upgrades and NOS tubes. Ping me if you need anything keithgurev (at) yahoo dot com
