Hi guys I was wondering what you guys think of this Musical Paradise MP-D2 DAC? I had to sell my Audio-gd Reference 7.1 DAC recently and I'm looking for a DAC to replace it as soon as I get the $$$$$ together! So I'd greatly appreciate some input on this DAC from those who know DACs and how well this DAC measures up, especially for the $$$$ it costs. It's a pretty big unit that measures 13"W x 14.9"D x 5.9"H and weighs 27lbs. Best part besides rolling the tubes, the coupling caps are also user changeable! Check out the website via the link below for more info...

DrN is absolutely correct! In fact if you click on the link below it will take you to the MP-D2 DAC on Musical Paradise's website! If you scroll down until you come to the paragraph titled Technology you'll see in that paragraph it says;

"MP-D2 is powered by latest XMOS U8 asynchronous USB chip and 2x AKM flagship VERITA AK4490 32bit DAC chips. XMOS Incorporated with three super high precision TCXO clocks deliver lowest jitter performance. Dual AK4490 in mono block configuration and custom voltage setting deliver 126db dynamic range performance. MP-D2 supports PCM up to 384Khz and DSD64, DSD128, and DSD256."

There's a lot of useful information about the MP-D2 DAC on this website. The amount of user flexibility of tube and caps types used in this unit is quite impressive to say the least...

very happy with it. This Tube DAC with my Pioneer PD-59 is a great match. With the "Stable Platter" the player is used as a transport and makes my CD come that much closer to vinyl. Very good price too.

Ordered mine about a week a go and it arrived today. Fired it up and have been listening for the last few hours and I must concur with all of the good that is written about this DAC. Don't let the price fool you this DAC is an awesome sounding instrument, and mine is stock! I will get around to some tube and cap rolling in the future but for now I'm very pleased.

correct me if I am wrong, mod is not needed on MK3.
