interesting new slant on commentary here

Our own Boshman, recently converted to the 6moons religion, sent me to this forum which I hadn't been to yet. Very cool. I've got a request that will make sense to most of you posting here.

As you may know, audio reporting, for most of us doing it "professionally", means little or no recompense, hence most audio reviewers get a little short-tempered when hit with strongly worded crticisms. Regardless of what one may think about this or that reviewer or particular review, there's always a lot of work that went into it - and though the outcomes may not always justify the efforts, the efforts rendered do explain why reviewers on a whole respond better when critiques are given in a friendly spirit of constructive criticism rather than outright personal attacks and slander.

That said (and only where my own rag is concerned) I welcome inmates on this forum to critique 6moons.com, the navigation system, the quality of content, the product mix etc - in the spirit of further improving our efforts by learning what you like and not like so much.

Now here comes the *special* request (didn't think I was gonna make it this easy, right?): If/when something about us posts, could someone send me a quick note to srajan@6moons.com just to alert me? I'm honestly way too busy to keep tabs on forums but I do like to participate when I benefit (e.g. learn something I can implement to make 6moons even better).

Thanks, y'all.

Srajan

sure! BTW, Bosh invited me to take a look at 6moons (busy missionary, isn't he?) and it was definitely my treat. You guys deserve at least a wheelbarrow full of praise.

Bosh a missionary? He's a foaming lunatic - and our fellow moonies swear he and I got separated at birth. His Bosh Position (speakig of missionary) is a sight to behold, too...

Thanks for the compliments. And I was serious - compliments are nice and we take 'em by the bushel-full, but constructive criticisms that help us all do an even better job are appreciated as well.

Especially when a magazine grows like ours, it's challenging to keep the navigation easy yet retain full access to the growing content AND implement the necessary ad support in a way that is attractive yet not cluttered, visible yet not cause for frustration to people logging on.

Cheers

For 6moons--it's one of the best audio magazines, print or web, available today. Together with Stereotimes, you guys are quite superior to the print rags. I love the reviews of relatively obscure, new equipment from new makers--gotta give those guys a leg up.

Thanks for the fine efforts!

Best,

because -- as you know altogether too well -- getting quality input is life sifting for gold. You're going to get a lot of rocks.

The praise I gave your mag is very well deserved.

As for Bosh, I know this gentleman. He and I met in a place called "Outside". Did he point you in that direction?

Not yet. Perhaps that's because he has become an "insider" now? Lol.

Srajan I would love it if you would put together SYSTEMS under $2000. If you had a section of your magazine, with reviews of gear that would work in this system, I believe you would be connecting with a very large part of the audiophile community who are starving for info.
I know there are other sites reviewing this type of gear. I would love to see your writers doing it. I love the group you have assembled over there and I respect their opinions.
I think there are a great deal of people who are a little fed up with what we believe are ridiculous prices of most of the gear that is usually reviewed. I also think many people have gone the expensive route and never really enjoyed the trip and are looking to downsize.
A small section each month dedicated to,what I think is a pretty large percentage of the audiophile community, would be welcome relief.
I would also like to crtique your magazine. I feel it is the best available today due to the good spirited nature you bring to the entire magazine.

Good suggestion. The first such review will be the all Eastern Electric Minimax stack - at ca. $1,350 per item, a bit higher than your price bracket but a step in the right direction I dare say. The next one already lined up will be Klaus Bunge's $1,500 Odyssey Audio marvel (you supply the CDP, he includes everything else in that price). The trick with affordable *systems* reviews is that unless it's all from one manufacturer, you can't upfront be certain that what you assemble based on price/specs will actually work that well as a system. And going through endless substitutions until you hit upon *the magic* isn't fair to those manufacturers whose products you asked for and then rejected.

But one-manufacturer systems are different - say Arcam, Adcom, Naim, Cambridge Audio, Audio Refinement etc.

Lemme see what we can line up beyond the two that are already in the chute. Good idea - thanks!

Updating a bit more often - perhaps on time. And, I agree with another poster that I would like to see more lower-mid priced equipment and systems reviewed.

Also, you need more variety in the music reviews to cover the other venues. And, these music reviews need the two tier'd 1-10 rating system, one for content and one for recording quality (ie, Hi-Fi+).
