Best place to buy Solti's "Ring."

Does anyone know where I can get Solti's complete "Ring" on CD at a good price in the U.S.? I've checked amazon and others and $140 is about as low as I can find it. I just know if I spring for the $140, next week I'll find it for $80 somewhere.

Thanks everyone. This site has added a great deal to my education as a music listener. But now I'm buying so many CD's that I don't have time to listen to all of them!!! I especially like Wagner and Handel oratories/operas and would really like to get the complete "Ring."

Thanks again.

Call the Exclusive Company in Madison Wisconsin (608) 255-2433. Ask for Charles in the Classical Department. He will mail order you a copy for about $120. (I ordered a copy for a friend from him last year and that's my best recollection of the price.) I have ordered several other things from him. I know it's a funny name for a record store, but it is a small chain in Wisconsin and they sell ALL cds at a very low price, not just the hot new releases. Charles has been selling classical records on State Street (near the UW campus) since I went to school there in the 60's.

Hello,

Thank you very much!!! It was $125 total and Charles said he would drop it in the mail today and I should receive it early next week. Very nice person, by the way.

Now I need to put aside 14 hours to listen to it! But, that won't be a problem.

FYI, Charles told me that he is getting Solti's Parsifal in next week. I may call again and get a copy.

Once again, thanks for your help.

TB

Happy that it worked out for you. Charles used to be somewhat of a curmudgeon, but like fine wine, has mellowed with age. When I was in school he had a few employees who reminded me of the classical music equivalents of the group in High Fidelity (the movie). Great movie, BTW.

The SF Opera is doing Parsifal in June, so I may have to give him a call too.
