From Perotin to Prokofiev (and beyond), performed by Caruso to Khatia, it's all here.

A vintage horn, Joe Alessi (look it up) Eyebrows, and awesome technique. As difficult a part as anything in the repertoire. View YouTube Video

No info on the video but I think it's when she was at University of Akron. Google page |

RE: "What are other notable parts in the trombone repertoire?", posted on May 10, 2022 at 04:29:20
Besides the Pulcinella, Bolero, and Mozart's Tuba Mirum solos, most are full section parts. The Chorale in Brahm's First Symphony 4th movement, numerous bombastic moments in Wagner like Ride Of The Fat Ladies as well as some that are lovely like Elsa's Procession To The Cathedral, Sibelius Seventh, Strauss' Till Eulenspiegel, Tchaikowsky Romeo and Juliet, the Largo from the Dvorak Ninth and many others you'll find at this Trombone Channel. Tuba Mirum has always been the absolute staple of orchestra auditions everywhere. The Brahm's and most especially this from the Mahler Resurrection have always been my favorites to play. I refer of course to the epic Concerto for Trombone and Military Band! View YouTube Video The soloist seemed great to me - the band, not so much! But there are other performances of the work on YouTube. ;-) |
RE: Masterpiece? Epic? Meh! This modern work is my current fav, posted on May 11, 2022 at 08:27:12
I'm second to no one in my admiration of Rimsky K but ... A few years ago you mentioned this work and I downloaded the part. No real technical difficulties to practice away (I like doing that) and too much repetition. Love this "Colors For Trombone Solo And Band" by Bert Appermont. There really are colors here and I'll never master it. View YouTube Video
