Online Classical Music Stations Rated by bitrate?

Usually listen to WCRB KUAT KQAC WQXR. These stations (as listed) have the highest bitrate. As all are partially publicly funded, why some broadcast low bitrate? Seems more funding might come were the bitrates increased???

Of course,being a bit more to the right might also help;>)

As recently as 2015, iTunes users in the US could listen to the BBC at 320bps AAC (itself a more efficient audio coding scheme, which is less lossy than mp3 is at the same given bit rate). That 320bps bit rate no longer seems to be available on iTunes anymore. I'm just speculating that contracts and agreements between Apple and the BBC probably changed in the meantime, and I'm guessing that similar issues underlie the various bit rates on other internet radio stations.
