I'm running low on change, so please give me your $.02 donations :-).

Here is the gear; Acurus ACD11 transport, Aragon D2A2, Aurum pre amp, and 8008BB power amp. Martin Logan ReQuest speakers.

The cable chain is a 1 meter Coaxial MIT Digital Reference Component Interconnect from the transport to the DAC, 1 meter MI-330 Series 2 Component Interconnect (low impedance) from the DAC to the Aurum, 1 meter MI-330 Proline Balanced Interconnect from the pre amp to the 8008BB, and 10 ft. MITerminator 2 Bi-Wire from the amp to the speakers.

The Digital coax and the Balanced interconnect I bought used, so I'm own'em. The MI-330 Series 2 Component Interconnect I bought new since I could not find a used one that was low impedance. I have seen several T2 for sale used, but bought them new because I was informed by MIT that the new ones are actually last years 750 shotguns (which they do look like).

Now, I just hooked all this up and wanted your point of view as to if this cable chain appears adequate, balanced, and what I should be listening for as I use the cables for the next couple of weeks. It is possible for me to exchange the new cables for Kimber or Audioquest withinn the first month.

This is a first time post to this group. I read the rules, and hope this does not prompt any prohibited discussions. Your thoughtful consideration is greatly appreciated.

I saw Kimber cable & all I have to say is keep silver versions away from Martin-Logans. Silver "might" impress you originally with unbelieveable detail but the electrostatic edge will come to annoy you.

Hey Mart. Just curious about how you feel about silver cables in systems. What kind of systems (or is that just speakers?) in general do you think silver excels in? And where would you put silver if you found that a silver throughout was too much. IE. Speaker cables but not interconnects or vice versa. Or are there no rules or best bets - its just system dependent.

What silver cables have you tried and which ones do you like and don't like?

When you find a silver cable you don't like, what dont you like about it? Is it usually that its to lean/clean and not enough body/warmth/harmonics or do you dislike it in some other way.

Sorry about all the questions. I'm just trying some new silver speaker cable for the first time and I'm looking to confirm some thoughts I have.
Thanks.

IMHO stay away from Kimber Kable, too bright. I use Silver Audio interconnects and they are smooth and not bright sounding at all.

Check out the G3 Siltech if you like silver cables. Smooth sounding stuff Maynard! And they have cables for most budgets.

Thanks...... I like TG Audio Labs Silver cable, posted on July 30, 1999 at 16:33:44

I know my post probably seemed that I'm not liking the silver speaker cables I have. No way man. These cables are incredible in my system and I love them. Extended, transparent and very smooth up top. Way better than the best copper I've heard. I was just looking for some affirmations!
Anyway, thanks for the suggestions anyway. I'll return the favor and suggest speaker cable by TG Audio Labs.

I'm still looking for solid Ag interconnects, but am not especailly fond of speaker cables. At least I don't find it cost effective. Plus, IMHO Ag seems to be more tempermental than Cu. I don't know why. Although, I'd love to hear tube powered electrostatics via a silver conduit. Figuring that both transformers have be disguarded. That may very well be what Audiophiles have wet dreams about. Maybe a biamped M-L with a McIntosh controlling the woofer. Time to go back to Kansas now ... there's no place like home ... there's no place like home ... there's no place like home ... there's no place like home ... there's no place like home

Thanks for the op about silver. I have no experience with it, so your experience is news to me.

After reading so of the thread, I was hoping for some other opinions on my setup and cables though. Didn't mean to start a discussion on silver :-)
