Anyone compared these ICs with shield connected at both ends (as per Yazaki-san's recipe) vs standard American sgl end only. Any sonics differences...issues with hum especially. Btw...how do you like overall presentation? Would appreciate your impression on tone, top end detail etc etc.

My whole system now uses 8402 interconnects. System has never sounded better coupled with Western Electric speaker cable . The 8402 does everything really well, Great dynamics, full extension top to bottom, very high resolution and no hum problems at all. Highly recommended. Replaced Nordost SPM and Sablon Panatella

I assume you mean Belden 8402. I tried it with the shield connected at both ends and only at the "input" end, and overall preferred the sound with the shield connected at both ends. Lifting the "output" end of the shield made the tonal balance a little lightweight and the dynamics were not quite as good, but the detail was slightly better. A tradeoff but for me the tonal balance improvement was worth the small cost in detail.

I didn't have any hum issues with either configuration.

While the conductor type and dielectric material of the Belden 8402 cable is not my cup of tea, you might consider building Take Five Audio's version of a cryo'd Belden 8402 interconnect cable, terminated with Furutech FP-126(G) rca connectors with OCC copper center pin, rather than terminated with brass Switchcraft rca connectors.

This is a good find. Particularly for those who would like to retain the general tone and presence of the Switchcraft version, yet potentially grab a little more of the frequency extremes. Cryo as well.

I find the sonic signature of the Furutech FP-126(G) rca connector to be very musical. If the sonic signature of the interconnect cable is capable of presenting a controlled bottom end, the Furutech FP-126(G) can help provide a full-bodied bottom end with a clearly defined bass fundamental. Its design and performance is similar to the once-popular Vampire 800/CB rca connector, but the Furutech FP-126(G) presents a more open and energetic treble energy, without brightness, whereas the Vampire 800/CB can sound too bass heavy, with an overly subdued treble characteristic. YMMV

Shielded cable always provides a closed in sound....I use unshielded, yet my system is dead quiet...even with vinyl, ear against the speaker. If you do have a noise problem, shielded helps in many cases however.

I agree. Simply keeping *unshielded* interconnects away from running along side of AC power cords; crisscrossing the two cable types at an angle if they must be near each other is a safe-bet to avoid EMI noise. For RFI issues, a very tightly twisted, close tolerance geometry, resonance dampened, Teflon insulated 21-24 AWG *solid core* OCC copper *unshielded* interconnect cable with premium high-performance connectors is my interconnect type of choice...
