 I have an older receiver that needs the rca jumpers. Does the quality of the cable matter and if so any recommendations. I am guessing that since they complete a circuit, they probably are important and probably anything is better than the U shaped connectors that often come with the receiver. Or am I mistaken about this. Thanks Norm

 Hi gonzo,

Yes, difference in performance of various rca jumper cables is very noticeable. Try this first: If you have a spare set of high-performance rca interconnect cables in your possession, remove the stock U-shaped jumpers and replace them with the audiophile cables, then report your findings in this forum.

 jean cables ~ 2 feet long and they really improved the sound. But I was curious if others have also noticed benefits and have specific recomnendations for short ones! Norm

 An rca jumper upgrade is easy, since only a single short-length of wire is required, terminated only to the center pin of an rca connector. Are you a DIYer?

 Since my experience was with only one set of interconnects, I didn't know if I could generalize from a series where n=1. But if there are recommendations for cables and plugs, or even pre made cables, I am interested. Thanks. Norm

 Below are links to parts for the DIY rca jumpers. Assembly is very simple. Cut a 1 foot length of wire in half, and solder each 6" length to the center pin of each pair of rca connectors:

 neotech 3001 was referenced in the prior thread you cited. It is more expensive than the 22 awg wire, but the amounts needed are small. Is there much of a sonic difference or in this setting does it matter that much? Thanks again . Norm

The cable the poster mentioned is a 2-pole rca interconnect cable, which is unnecessary, since all that is required for an rca jumper is a single conductor connected to the center pin of an rca connector. In this case, less is more. If you wish to go a step further by selecting alternative parts, you might consider VH Audio 21 AWG UniCrystal OCC copper hookup wire with AirLok insulation terminated with KLE Copper Harmony (or KLE Pure Harmony, if affordable) rca connectors:

 Better yet open the unit and solder the wires together. Cheapest and best solution and takes those old RCA jacks out of the equation.

 The most dramatic difference in sound quality I have heard to date in cable was when I switched the stainless steel jumpers in my NAD integrated to solid core silver Audioquest jumpers. It was not subtle. I might have been just as happy with copper and high quality RCA connectors but I never go around to try anything else. At the time Audioquest was listing them for about $35, so DIY didn't seem worth the trouble, but from then on, I was convinced that cables do make a difference.
