Some of you know that I recently changed out my furutech fi-11 gold males to copper ones. I have a thread about their break-in. The gold IEC ends, stayed put. I had forgotten to progold the new copper males, (as I had done with golds) and it improved the sound, that I orginally thought was lacking sparkle and detai.

Tonight, on an unrelated note, I opened the iec connector, one that had been attached to the cable for a couple of years. I tested the tightness of the screws and found that they had become loose. I was able to get a good quarter turn or slightly more on all three screws.

I didn't think anything of it really, until I fired the system back up and was greated with more clarity speed and resolution. I would not have thought that the less tight connectiom would have that much of an audible effect in the slightest, but it is a very real difference. Color me officially out of my mind.

Edit! MODS- I accidentally posted in wrong forum. Please move to cable asylum. My apologies.

D-wife will be (sadly) out of town next week; so it's time for a complete system teardown and "clean-ify", as it were.

Deoxit cleaning wipes at the ready. Also go the "special" oil for the FrankenLinn's bearing.

Oh, Monday evening! Let the games begin...

Nice find but that is why soldering is always better than screws :)

My most recent cleaning was about a year ago. Time to do again! BTW, this cloth started off being completely clean. :)

I always torque the screws to the thread specification of the screw size (never a loose screw. :) You may also want to consider a conductor paste to prevent oxidation. Also you will damage the plastic housing if you try to solder the clamps.
