Replaced my very nice soung DH Labs usb cable with an Acoustic Revive cable. The improvement in sound was greater than any other cable change I have made. It is pricy but got it on sale for $295. Try it

I've found their interconnects, LAN cables and speaker cables to be very good to excellent. I haven't used any of their USB cables, however. Is the one you've tried the single USB or the one that splits the power from the signal at one end? Just curious.

Thanks.

same results here! mine is the 2 legs version: the best results with one leg to the computer, the other to a 5V power supply; in Europe it's very expensive, about 490€, but i managed to import it directly from Japan, and paid just 320€ shipped

best, paco

Mine is the single cable although there are two separate runs just terminated to one USB A and one USB B. Ido not need the split cable because the metrum hex supplies its own 5V power. No dwaw of power from the sending device

Too many choices.
I am using the data leg only of the all copper Gemini from the unpowered USB output of my Antipodes DX to the USB input of my Metrum Hex. It sounds great, but that may be the DX and Hex combination.
I have been curious about the data only versions of the Acoustic Revive cable you are now using, and also the data only versions of the YFS and the CAD USB cables.
Thanks for sharing your experiences.

I was not aware of a data only USB cable. What is it called and could you provide a link?

Both YFS (Your Final System) and CAD make data only versions of their USB cables. There are likely others who do also.

When I was using a Mac mini, I used to cut the power from the USB cable using the ifi iUSBPower device. I believe Empirical Audio's Short Block filter also cuts power from the USB cable so it can only be used with DACs (like our Hex) that internally power the USB input.

The Antipodes DX has a powerless USB output (as well as a powered USB output) so one could presumably use any USB cable but it would only carry data when connected through the unpowered USB output. I use only the data leg of the ifi Gemini cable from the unpowered USB output, leaving the power leg unconnected.

If any others here know of another data only USB cable, I would be interested in hearing about them.

Thanks

Sorry, I thought they did.
It appears they do not advertise a data only cable, but I did find this on their website;

"However, you can order any length of USB-1,0SP and USB-1.0PL for your equipment because our USB cables are fully handmade by skilled craftsmen."

Since you really like the sound of their USB cable, and since they are handmade, I would recommend contacting them and asking if they would make you a cable minus the power leg.

Since my dac draws no power over the power leg I don't see that there would be any difference plus there cables are expensive

Agreed good sound with Mac mini but with my Auralic Aries I can't get the dual with Kingrex battery supply to work with either of my Dacs.

Someone said it may be to do with the grounding of the Aries.

Luckily I'm trying a stunning USB cable not in general release but will post impressions when it does go on official sale.

Good price by the way on the AR.

Cheers
