Leaving the "Collective"

72.94.156.11

Posted on February 15, 2015 at 06:11:50
I have enjoyed conversing with many of the inmates here in the Asylum😄. It has become evident however that there exists a fair amount of "Collectively Juvenile" social misfits that preclude me from being myself. Freedom, it would appear, is just another word for playing by the "Collective" set of rules😳. Looking back at my exchanges here I noticed a pattern emerge which is quite sad and disturbing😞. My posts and responses were all rather even toned and exciting when exchanging ideas with truly interested "Adults" in the Asylum😃. Alas, members of the attack force from the "Collective" on the other hand have made it their mission to poke at my discourse whithout retribution😳. Obviously the anti-establishment DIY self anointed gurus have free reign here. I find the inability, of what should be a mature audience, to have an open and lively exchange of ideas without being forced to conform with a "Collective" mindset is unbearable😣. Lastly, I bid a fond farewell to all the small minded, emotionally fragile conformists who believe so fervently in their own unique brand of Audio Religion that they are incapable of dealing with someone outside of their own personal sect😔. Enjoy the "Collective" life! I choose another path😙

Try walking into a Police Station and scream "I got a Bomb", 'Freedom' of speech got nutten' to do with it.

Try driving on the road on the 'wrong' side of the street...yeah freedom, to die or cause injury and pain on others. Oh my 'precious freedom'...

You have the 'right' to take your precious 'ideas' and go play by yourself.
Cya, didn't really get to know yah. Wouldn't want to be yah.

Being in total agreement with everyone is not any fun.
I certainly don't agree with everything posted here, and others don't always agree with my point of view, but I often learn stuff and, by keeping a somewhat open mind, sometimes I even change my point of view.
You can either grow a thicker skin, or go find another way to spend your time, which may have its own rewards.
Another consideration is that the majority here do not have the scratch to purchase $13K interconnects, or even $5K demos. You might try "whatsbestforum" (link below), where you may find others who play in the same sandbox.
Its too bad that you would quit because others don't agree with you, because, if everyone always agreed with each other, there wouldn't be anything new to learn.

Whiners of your depth and caliber (over the top soapbox exits), unceremoniously returns with the same unabated flag waving (MIT?). Frankly, I see no reason to get teary-eyed or giddy over any of your claims. That would require some degree of belief on my part.

"It has become evident however that there exists a fair amount of "Collectively Juvenile" social misfits that preclude me from being myself."

Thank you for claiming to have some inkling of self-constraint. Time will tell...

They were opinionated, clueless, silly, and insulting.

And I'm not even a member of the "attack force".

Oh, and by the way - smiley face at the end of every sentence is a sure sign of the author of those sentences being a moron.

but I thought you were just starting to fit in. It's not called an asylum for no reason. This place is what it is, and if you can't abide it, then maybe it is best to move on. I thought you brought something to the table, but then I thought the same of Romy and others that used to frequent here too.

I get fired up quickly when responses have their own secret code or cryptic barbs that honestly befuddle me. I prefer someone just flat out speaks their mind...clearly! Jeez....I'm actually a lot of fun:)

that you need to respond to all in a death throws of salutations. Not a bit of narcissism. I'm sure your flamboyantly black & white view of cables will be missed....

What a drama. You poor, misunderstood genius. Please, just go away and spare us the bitter parting shots. Maybe you can find a place where everyone wants to stroke your ego and suffer your sarcasm.

There are plenty of people who regularly contribute here, but it is certainly not a collective or any other form of groupthink. In fact, your "I hear everything correctly and the rest of you must be wrong" attitude just doesn't fit in. Too bad, because your experience and passion could have made you a worthy contributor instead of an arrogant crank.

Enjoyed reading of your journey through cable-land. It mirrors my own experience. And I agree, MIT cables are not easily equaled and extremely hard to beat.

I concur -rwiley. For the open-minded, a trip through cable-land can be a fascinating one. So many cables, so little time.

I really don't, but I do get frustrated with the pseudo-intelligencia that project a presumed understanding of something that they have never even experienced. I have actually gone off the reservation from what some would call an ivory tower or soap box and have purchased more than a few competing products to explore the "other side". I have found several great products but have chosen those which sound best to my ears. Perhaps my blowback is somewhat justified, as should be my occasionally caustic rhetoric. Are we on trial? Must we be so restrained from speaking our minds and exposing our passions to the point of being "Sponge Bob Normal Pants"? Perhaps it is believed to be necessary to coddle the insecure and emotionally fragile inmates who take offense with most anything that attempts to scrape at the door of their personal world view of audio. I like to experiment and mix it up and respond to others in an often opinionated and expressive manner. Another major component missing here is the fact that the written word misses volumes regarding intent and humor!

RE: Leaving the "Collective", posted on February 16, 2015 at 07:28:56
I know what you mean and even though I would be frustrated and respond to criticism, however just or unjustly thrown my way, I could still understand their passion passion. I grew up with Bozak B313 speakers, which were built similiarly to the Harberths and produced some wonderful music for many years. Facetime would probably cure a lot of misunderstandings around here:)

to live here without being part of 'the collective'. It's only when someone sees or hears the world in just black or white, that challenges one's belief and leads to conflict. Most folks don't personally know each other and as soon as this thread reaches the middle of the page, you'll be forgotten. There are a number of folks here to fill the superior, condescending role you embraced during your short stay. I liked your posts and perceptions but, if you gotta go...

Yeah, I'm getting bored now with this anyway. My post was actually in earnest regarding an expensive interconnect that I found worthy, but with a questionable worth to others who have different priorities. Pretty fair, I thought anyway. Oh well... Party on😙

thebordas,

The priority in this forum should be that of seeking and sharing on-topic information about cables rather than attacking fellow AA Inmate's personal interests that may differ from your own.

I believe you've acted like a troll with poor social skills looking for a flame war in Cable Asylum. That activity seems like ridiculous childish behavior on your part.

Not true if you match up my responses to the comments. Only the "Collective" trolls bore the edge of my verbal sabre! Really now....why is this a one way route. I don't see the "Expensive cable lovers haters group" with their short loaded bursts of insipid insight being warned to not hurt my feelings😧

What does this thread have to do with cables?

This is somebody's rant/decision to leave the Asylum because of whatever.

I think it belongs in Inmate Central, or maybe more appropriately, Whiner's Woad.

thebordas's exit is reminiscent of a Mel Brooks comically extended death scene.

Just fyi y'all, if/when I ever leave the Asylum, I won't post 40 (figuratively speaking) messages while doing so.
