Just showing off my latest DIY PC. The connectors are a work of art from VALAB on eBay. Cost was only $118.00 for connectors and cable. It's now cooking on the refer until next Monday eve. This is my third PC using these connectors. One uses OCC cable, the other Supra LoRad 3x2.5 cable. High quality at a low price. What a deal.

Nice job! I have a P+ cord and think it sounds good. I am using Supra speaker cable and am curious about the Supra PC. That gear does each cord power?

Beautiful cord. Plugs look like Furutech "knock offs." :)

Hey there The Dill, I’ve got one PC (Supra Lorad 3x2 5 Power Cable) on my Gustard U12 USB/SPDIF converter, another on the Pyramid PS (Neotech OCC) for my Musical Fidelity V90 Dac and this latest one will go to my Oppo DV980H (as transport). After this one is fully burned in I’ll rotate the cables to find the best home for them.
I must say it’s very gratifying to gather the necessary information and parts to assemble a finished product that is as good or better than a similar product selling for big green. Also DIY is a great way to keep my old mind learning new things.

I love the cable. I bought it and made a CDP cable but used cryo'ed connectors from Sonicraft that were over 50% off. Check their connector prices at the link, scroll down within the list

Edit: It took forever to cache the page because they added tons of stuff. The 50% off and more furutech and Neotech are gone now

I see they also have KLE Innovations Pure Harmony RCA plugs for $96.

Your cords look great, and I'm glad you like the sound. Do you believe those VALab parts are what they claim they are? Have you compared their sound to any other connectors in an identical configuration? I just have a hard time believing their claims because of the prices they can charge. I've bought a couple VALab items and they were pretty junky. It's been shown that their "rhodium" plating is probably nickel; vigorously disputed, of course, by VALab.

I've made PC's with Furutech connectors and not very fancy wire, and they turned out to be excellent. I think the connectors are more important than wire in a PC, so I really wonder about whether these connectors are any good in addition to being incredibly cheap.

Peace,

I have no reason to believe the Valab connectors are not what they claim to be. Are the Furutech connectors what they claim to be? Late last year I did compare Supra LoRad cable with cheap connectors from a Bob Crump PC and Supra LoRad with Valab connectors. I alternately switched the cables back and forth on the transport playing the same selection of music and there was no doubt in my ears that the Valab connectors sounded superior by a noticeable margin. Not very scientific, but I’m comfortable with that. My ears despite their faults are what I trust. So yes I believe they are a quality product and incredibly inexpensive.

Happy ears to ya,

IIRC, Duster spent quite a bit of time evaling the VALab connectors and found them to be exceedingly good value for the price. I have learned to trust his opinions over the years. This thing about plating being bogus is troubling, but must also admit to having heard it here for the first time. I don't own any of their connectors, but need to build a new PC for a regenerator and am seriously considering their connectors. I'd prefer to use Oyaide C series connectors, but the price of them has gone from expensive to nearly ridiculous.

They have cool stuff and have a 20% off sale at least one or two times a year. They are an AA sponsor and have a link on our homepage here.

Yes, thanks to Duster's experience, knowledge and willingness to share prompted me to try the VAlab connectors. And I don't regret it for a nano second.

I also believe they are "incredibly inexpensive." That's exactly my point. Rhodium is still a semi-precious metal, even in Hong Kong. Carbon fiber isn't a lot cheaper there than anywhere else. But if eBay says it's real, it must be true.

If they sound good to you, then that's all that's important. And they do look nice. Good job for making your own.

Peace,

I know Duster promoted this company's products here for a while, which is what prompted me to order a few things from them that turned out to be less than what I expected. I also respect Duster's opinion, but I don't believe he's infallible.

I find Furutech, even their least expensive model, to be the best conflation of price and quality, in terms of materials and sound. Never tried Oyaide, for exactly the point you made.
