I've seen several older threads here on this topic and thought I'd share my recent experience and throw this out for consideration and comment. After making a change in one of my interconnects in my digital chain which modified the sound, I also switched around a few of my power cords resulting in improvements in clarity. Specifically, I removed the Gutwire B-12 from wall to power conditioner and replaced it with the Wireworld Electra 5.2 which had been on the Musical Fidelity tube buffer situated between my CD player and preamp. I replaced it with an Audioquest NRG-2. This appears to portend that the power cable on the power conditioner can have a significant impact on the sound and may be the most significant pc, at least in some systems. In this instance, the impact on imaging and soundstage depth impacted my other sources as well.

The effect of power chords on equipment really varies with the equipment and the power chord. You really have to experiment

When I got my power regenerater. I was surprised that power cords. Would effect it. They do, and the effects go through the whole system.

Howdy Chris K,

I'm currently evaluating a major upstream AC delivery modification, so I can fully relate to your post ;-) The affectation of upstream AC delivery gear tends to impart a notable sonic signature, one way or another. But I don't consider priority in most cases, no more than the importance of cables and cords for an upstream source component vs. downstream amplification. The signal chain is so full of potential synergy, that what may be happily placed upstream may be more impressive when placed downstream, or vice versa. This may include counter-intuitive notions of large gauge conductors for low-current devices and spending more for a cable/cord than the component it's actually serving.

Cheers, Duster

a good PC (or at least the best one for the job) at the power source for me defines starting AT the source!
