Monoprice. I use the Slimline with RedMere technology, 10 bucks.

Thanks for the recommendation regarding the Mapleshade HDMI....I'm reticent about getting Mapleshade stuff....have found them to have build quality issues with some things I ordered. I had 3 HDMI links (not Mapleshade) connected (great reviews..sounded and looked fine) yet 1 fell apart, while the other 2 look like they're going in just a couple of weeks of use. I need something that works well, and stays together. The metal ends have to be gold or something similar that won't age poorly ...HDMI is very "iffy" ....everything has to be perfect for it to function properly.

I got the best Monster Cable, has adaptor for right angles, no problems /loosness/bad connections at all, 2 yearsI have one from Sat box to TV, one from Marantz 7007 to TV.
I can wiggle and jiggle them to no effect.
Looks great, but haven't made any comparisons.
I get TV Sound from Sat Box Line Out, same for the Marantz.
I found Mapleshage cables and adaptors to be flimsy.
The reviewer did say he saw things with the Map that he didn't with his Monster Cable, probably the same as mine, don't know the #.

MONOPRICE. Perhaps a larger font is in order.

I'm using their starlight HDMI, but they have cables in all price ranges. Very good connectors, very good cables.

+1 on the Monoprice with RedMere. A no brainer to try at the price!

Sgreen-

I use a WireWorld silver starlight 5.2 HDMI. It is outstanding in every sense. Look for a used/demo starlight 6 or 7. If you can afford, the Platinum is the absolute best! Keep me posted.

Fantja....I just got 3 Wireworld UltraViolet 2 meter 7 cables from The Cable Co. I know these are not as good as yours, but The Cable Co., said if I wasn't satisfied, I could return them and get better ones. They recommended Wireworld as being excellent cables. When I get them plugged in I'll respond again. Thanks

Sure Sgreen-

oddly enough, if you talk to many videophiles the 2 brands that are very consistent are both Mapleshade & Wireworld. I have never viewed anything connected w/ the mapleshade-still, it is highly regarded.

Keep me posted.

Go to amazon and check out Apollo a/v hdmi cables. They are 5% silver flat construction. They are reminiscent to a well known line of cables (hint:ww). By far the best I have used.

Oppo BDP-83SE for now, but the Pangeas are used to link the TV, cable box, and receiver in a system separate from my audio setup.

HDMI cables to wireworld starlight 6 hdmi. On Netflix streaming there was no video improvement, on SD dvds the color was more saturated played from my oppo bdp-83 to my Panny 55" plasma, while Blu-ray was smoother, with a bit better detail focus and more saturated colors. The picture quality was already very good using the Monoprice, IMO, so there was not a day and night difference, but noticeable and welcome. However, the audio was quite notably better on ALL formats, cleaner, with a much improved soundstage, played through my NAD M51 DAC to my ncore amps and Daedalus speakers.
On that basis, I can recommend the Wireworld Starlight 6, although at the list price of $199/m. it is kind of pricey. Look for used or closeouts at less than half.
FWIW, my experience with the wireworld Gold Starlight 5, 6, and 7 digital coaxes is that the 6 and 7 series are a big step up from previous versions.

I'll report back in a few days. The WW Starlight 6 listed at $199/M., so it will be an interesting comparison.

I'm referring to the Apollo AV Lightning HDMI cable which has 5% silver content. It sells for $49.95 for 1 meter and $64.95 for 2 meter.

I am not referring to their less expensive HDMI cables.

As I stated earlier in this thread, the "Lightning" HDMI cable compares to cables far costlier.

list is indeed 49.95. They have been replaced by an HDMI 2.0 version.

..just to tell you of my HDMI cable - Wireworld Violet 7.....Oh MY is there an increase in picture and sound quality....Night and Day!! Couldn't be happier. ...NOW..... When I first plugged the cables in, nothing at all happened, no picture, no sound NOTHING. I was just about to remove them when suddenly the sound and the picture exploded. The nothing was about 5 or 6 minutes before it began working. I never knew that HDMI cables had to warm up (or something), but the picture and the sound now is glorious.

the color is very saturated, detail very clear. I haven't a/b'd the Wireworld starlight 6, but the video seems very similar, and an improvement over the still quite decent Monoprice for not much $. I can attest at under $20 on closeout, the apollos are terrific- even at full price, they would seem to be very good value.

Right On! jonbee-

WW 7 series is advertised as the most-sophisticated yet. I did hear the power cable Electra7 in an outstanding system w/ both upper level Signal Cable and Silent Source (PC) and the WW held its own at a much cheaper value.

I still say the platinum is a state of the art cable in any config.

Fantja.....There was one addition I thought interesting.... When I plugged the HDMI cables in and was bowled over by how much better these cables are than the (I think they were called Herman HDMI which supposed to have come out very high in some ranking I saw on the internet..) Anyway, from time to time I got no picture, or one with reduced size that didn't fill the screen. When I complained to the cable provider, they asked me if it was a "good" HDMI connection that I had, and I answered yes... they rebooted the cable box which not only gave me the full picture, but even better quality. ...more detail, greater color saturation, etc.
