Has anyone used these and has anyone compared them to the old blue heaven. I am interested in the purple flare or new blue heaven Leif cables.

I can't speak directly to your question but I can say that Nordost has really upped their game (and I've always liked their products! )

I recently bought the Heimdall 2 interconnect and speaker cables (and two H2 power cords and a Frey 2 cord) and they're a dramatic improvement over the previous generation.

It's a safe bet that if you liked the previous blue heaven, you'll be more than pleased with the Leif series.

I for one am glad to hear that at long last Nordost have made alterations to their "house sound" which I feel has always been let's say . . . . an acquired taste.

I say that with no intention to offend the many countless Nordost fans who are lovers of their particular sound - but it's not for me I'm afraid.

I bought an original Blue Heaven interconnect and was very pleased with it, especially it's soundstaging attributes. But I then added BH speakers cables and the lack of any tonal richness simply made everything too lean for me.

Do you find the new Nordost has any more body to them to go with their existing strengths or that they are just better at what they already did well?

Thanks.

While I always felt that the accusations of brightness levelled against Nordost spoke more about the remainder of the system than the cables, I will concede that they were on the cool side of absolute neutrality.

The new generation of Nordost are the most neutral cables that I've ever heard. They are certainly not warm but neither would I call them lean.

Their accuracy of timbre reminds me of the Quad US Monitors I once owned and that's a great compliment. The dynamic "jump" I'm experiencing with the new Nordost makes me think of horn speakers; the better ones that lack glare. The resolution is excellent but unforced and without etch.

Rather than let my enthusiasm become too embarrassing, I recommend finding a dealer with well broken-in loaners. As for me, I couldn't be more pleased.

I wouldn't say that they were a "bright" sounding cable because they are not and midrange transparency was up there with the best of them. It was the lack of real deep bass with an acute shortage of timbre and body that in my view and humble opinion was not the right league of house sound to pursue. Now if the latest incarnations have addressed this issue then by all means I shall re-visit Nordost cables once more.

I have a pair of the older blue heaven which I do like. I just wished they had more bass weight and impact and a smidgen more body in the midrange. I have followed the new Leif series and been reading reviews and I contacted nordost direct. They told me the Leif series is a huge advancement in their cables. The entry level passes the old blue heaven in every aspect. Air detail body soundstage and bass impact etc. paul from nordost told me the purple flare is the best bang for the buck in the Leif series. I ordered a pair of interconnects so only time will tell. I will update in a week or two and let you know how they stack up.
