I have been using the Mapleshade Clearview Plus USB, which was a good step up from AQ Coffee, much to my surprise. I've been totally happy with the smooth, non-digital, clear sound for the last year. I've had good results with the Black Cat Silverstar 75 digital coax in the past, and when a used Silverstar USB cable, a pretty new design from Chris S., showed up, I thought I'd give it a try. At $99/$150 new for 24"/1.5 M lengths, it is priced very well, about the same as the Mapleshade. I'm very pleased. It maintains the smooth, clean openness of the Mapleshade, but has more top end energy and clarity and a more dynamic sound overall. A nice improvement in my system, and the cables is much more robustly constructed than the somewhat delicate Mapleshade. So, certainly worth a try at its modest price. Based on my experience I just bought a pair of Neo-Morpheus ICs to try in my smaller systems. |
