Which Bastanis?

 Hi all,
I'm considering the purchase of Bastanis speakers, but I'm a bit confused about the range. I don't really know which model woulf suit me best and some of the new design take some distance with the well acclaimed and reviewed Prometheus. Could someone give me a hint? Thanks!!

 Hi,

the Mandala open baffle speakers from the line always come with active powered woofers. The active powered woofers and the compact sized open baffles offer most versatile behaviour but because of the extra- woofers and woofer- amps the entry to the Mandala speakers is higher priced compared to the passive speakers from the line.

The line of passive speakers was introduced in parallel to the open baffle line. Today there are two passive speakers available:

The LBF which is based on a 10" crossoverless wideband drivers and helper- tweeters. The LBF offer good efficiency (93dB/1W/1m; 8Ohms)and an elegant look which let the LBF speakers integrate well in nearly all rooms.

The new Matterhorn speakers base on extremely high efficient 15" crossoverless wideband drivers and either the Standard- or the Gemini- tweeters which are wellknown from the Mandala line of open baffle speakers. The Matterhorn speakers are much bigger compared to the LBF but they`re still compact sized regarding the size of the wideband drivers, the efficiency and the max. dynamics.

Matterhorn and LBF have floor- firing basshorn- cabinets and they offer much more dynamic sound than anybody would expect knowing the size of the wideband- drivers only. Especially the new Matterhorn marks a new standard for passive speakers - the dynamics, the fundamental basses and the high efficiency of real 100dB/1W/1m; 8Ohms are comparable to some few huge and very expensive fullhorn- speakers only.

The soundquality of the Matterhorn speakers is comparable to the soundquality of the Mandala open baffle speakers but the open baffles show some advantages in imaging caused by the dipole characteristics.

 I will decide between the Matterhorn and the Little Big Fun. My room size is 13ft X 27 feet. My amplifier is 15W OTL amplifier from Transcendent sound.
Could you give the dimensions of both the speakers.

 Hi,

both speakers are fine for your room and offer harmonic sound with the Transcendent amp.
The LBF sound very good and always harmonic offering dynamic and fundamental basses and nice resolution of fine details in the midrange and the highs. The efficiency is 93dB/1W/1m which is fine to achieve uncompressed dynamics with your amp up to relatively high listening- levels and to listen a big classical orchestra at live level. The LBF are 1000mm high, 280mm wide and 340mm deep without the additional extra front- platter shown on my website. They look small, elegant and are not dominating the room.
The Matterhorn speakers offer unlimited unique dynamics and bass- quality and they also offer superiour resolution of fine detail in the midrange. When you choose the Gemini dipole tweeters the Matterhorn speakers also offer unique resolution of fine detail in the highs and superiour imaging. The lower priced Standard tweeters are truely nice and satisfying sounding, too. The Matterhorn speakers are true 100dB/1W/1m efficient and powered by the Transcendent amp it`s possible to listen at about live rock concert- levels.
The Matterhorn speakers are 1100mm high,420mm wide and 348mm deep without the additional extra front- platter shown on my website. The Matterhorn speakers are bigger compared to the LBF but in case that it`s required they can be placed relatively close to the backwall, the self- adjusting floor- firing basshorn design helps to keep the basses punchy, fundamental and precise even with short distance to the backwall of the room.
