Does anyone have any experience with a company out of the Chicago area called Amplifier Surgery. They rebuild well known amplifiers on a part time basis. They have many videos on U-tube. Considering having my Krell KSA 250 reconditioned. Their work looks good and I could deliver it from my home in Michigan and avoid shipping.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

A few folks I know like their IC's and speaker cable. Aside from that, I have zero knowledge of their amp restoration work.

I'd try to determine actual experience and background level PRIOR to dropping anything off.

Make sure the work is done by a Single Person, not a team (avoid confusion) or some kind of committee or production line.

Schematics and test data are probably availabble.

I'd also try to get a good look at the service area. Some idea of the kind (manufacture) and extent of test equipment would be nice.

Parts Ain't Parts and better IS better in many cases. Discusss THAT, too.
Too much is never enough

A friend of mine had work done bye them, he liked the results. I live outside Chucago. I'd get ahold of the guy, he does good work, and if your willing to drop it off, it's all good.

Hamad rebuilt a pair of MacMod Quad 405 2s for me. One amp had blown a transistor on one board, I had him rebuild both amps. Workmanship is excellent, work was done on time and at the price quoted. Communication is excellent.

This is about five months ago.

Amps sound superb, too.
