Pass Alepg 30 vs NAD M22?

Have efficient speakers, love my Aleph 30 class A, hoping for a bit more bass slam. Eager to hear NAD M22 Hypex sound. Would this be a lateral, up, or down move?

Mike K makes some valid points but he did'n't directly address your question about more bass slam.... and I won't be able to either but I'll offer some perspective having once owned the Aleph 3 and Aleph 30.

First of all, the Aleph 3 and Aleph 30 are a little light in the dynamics and bass slam department. Both are very smooth and enjoyable amps but I never considered them to be great especially for rock music - too polite and not enough punch.

I cannot comment on the NAD M22 but have owned several solid-state amps including Class D amps that offered better dynamics and bass punch than the Aleph 3 or 30.

P.S. As an aside, the Aleph 3 and Aleph 30 had similar specs but not quite. The Aleph 3 would double power from 8 Ohms down into 4 Ohms. The Aleph 30 would not.

I also owned the Pass X150 and X150.5 class AB amps and they slammed quite nicely with great dynamics throughout!

I preferred them over the Aleph 3 & 30 but I wasn't sure if it was just a power difference issue. The X150 and X150.5 were very nice especially with a robust tube preamp driving them.

And once again not having had the M22 (sounds like that damn computer on Star Trek that went berserk and killed a bunch of people)

NAD does consistently maintain a "house sound". Tends to be very forward on top and bottom with a lean midrange. Funny that's where most of the music lies.

However, you seem to be willing to spend a few bucks on an amp. So perhaps we should evaluate your system and needs in more detail and present a few ideas that better suite your needs.

It has very high apparent quality and industrial design, it's certainly the nicest "feeling" audio product I've ever owned. As far as sound, it sounds like an amplifier with completely flat frequency response, astonishing clarity, no noise or distortion and oodles of power.
