a 100 WPC tube amp new and used. I've seen a few working Mac 2100's in decent condition for about $700 and thought they would sell for higher. Not in the market now just curious to hear opinions.

I think that there is quite a range on this-
Some of the older and less well known amps are in the $2`3K range
Mcintosh and Marantz Tube gear is anywhwere from $1k to $2K over that and possibly more if it is Mint/sequential serial numbers and the like-

The McIntosh 2100 is not one of their prettiest amps - no tubes and no Blue meters - so it can be had for less-

More recent production units are closer to retail...
at least that is what I have seen lately-
Happy Listening

the 2100 is not a tube amp. It is the meterless version of the 2105, an insipid sounding late 60s SS design.

The 2102, however, is a tube amp but those go for a lot more than $700!

The Mac2100 is a 105 watt Solid State amp without meters that's probably why they're cheaper.

Ah OK, a bad assumption by me based on the pic which looked like a tube Mac and inspired me to start this now useless thread (LOL) in other words that splains everything

Yes a boo boo by me. I was dumbfounded seeing a 100 WPC tube Mac because............it wasn't.

Yes my error for sure and now my idea of tube amp prices is back to what I thought they were. Bad assumption by me on the Mac. Looked like a tube unit.

You can probably find a Rogue Stereo 90 or 100 or the Tempest 1 and 2 used for about 1000 to 1200. they are about 100 watts. the tempest have a passive preamp too. (which you could bypass and not use)

Then on the other end is Manley snappers used about 3200 new 7200.

I have owned the tempest 2 and now still own the Manley.

Their is also the Bob Latino ST120 Tube amp kit new for about 1200 and that's a great amp.

Yes the lack of the blue meter abd black glass has a dramatic downward turn in the prices. A MC2105 with 105wpc has the black face and blue meters , they sell in good cond for about $1200. They are very old amps at this point but the blue meters are very alluring.
