Hi Everyone. Thinking of getting a tube intergrated amp to go with my cdp which has a volume control. Currently using tube monos..

Before I pull the trigger...my question is...will any issues arise from having both with volume controls. Main concern is noise and degradation of sound quality. Anyone gone this route before?

Plan is to turn up the volume of cdp to max and control volume via integrated amp. I don't think it's possible to disengage volume control of cdp.

Thanks.

... Usually most volume controlled CDP will have an "optimum' volume setting to be used when running into a integrated amp or pre amp.

I run my Audio Aero CDP into a pre amp with no issues.

No but you'll never know if your CDP's passive volume attenuator is superior to the preamp section of your integrated.

I went from an integrated to a pair of 575 wpc mono blocks with just the OPPO's volume attenuator utilizing the 32-bit SABRE DAC's that they say eliminates signal loss.

By the time I was done with this new even more minimalist config. my previous $8k int. amp sounded like a $100 BestBuy receiver in comparison.

no ... the OP has the CD player now with a volume control which he is listening to. Adding the preamp will let him hear if it's worse, better, or the same, and try different volume settings on the CD player etc..

IIUC that is!
