I don't know! Let us know when you find out more.

I noticed that they BOTH have a CD Direct function. Have you researched it enough to know EXACTLY what that means??

I had a Parasound Pre-amp with a Direct special input. It drove me CRAZY, as it sounded SO MUCH better than all of the other inputs, but it was ONLY on ONE input. Got rid of that in a hurry.

I always think that simpler is better. These preamps seem to be pretty similar, otherwise.

You should have bought a switch box for that ONE good input. ;-)

Marantz makes a nice amp. However you do need speakers that are NOT treble shy. That amp does need a speaker with forward treble.

On the plus side that amp has the BEST midrange and bass in your basic $1k amp. Full, lush and very tube like sound. Not the end word in detail but it makes up for it in SMOOTH sound.

Marantz also does make a mighty fine sounding DAC.

The Yamaha - which I have VERY limited experience is also a fine but very diffent amp. They tend to be a tad shy on the midrange detail and imaging. But it is a solid amp despite what I just typed.

Don't take a negative as a condemnation on an amp. It's only an attempt to point out the pros and cons of a "GOOD" amp. They are both fine amps and you can't loose either way.
