Lately I've noticed a noise coming from my speakers (it seems mostly from one channel) when my Rega Brio R is on but not playing, or during a pause in the music. Not a buzz - more like the wind is blowing heavily. Gets worse as the volume is increased.
Appears on all inputs.
Any guesses? I've checked connections, tried it with each input covered with a Cardas cap, switched a few power cords... nada.
Rest of system: Desktop Maggie speakers, Anti-Cable speaker cables and interconnects, AQ power cable. (Rega P25 TT, Valhalla headphone amp, Micromega MyDAC, Oppo 83SE)

Thanks
Jeff

Jeff-
are you running a dedicated line or some other power conditioning?
You will need at least (1) of these living in MD.

Since it only happens in one channel, I wouldn't think it is not AC Line-related, rather a discrete component like a transistor on it's way to the Great Parts Bin In The Sky.

Just to verify, try listening to the offending channel without a source connected, just to make sure it isn't the source- I know you said you tried changing connections and such, but even the best of diagnostics sometimes provide un thought of answers. Case in point- I was CONVINCED that the grounding hum (faint but noticeable) was the result of our cable box being part of the system. I tried isolation xformers and just about every one of the usual antidotes to no avail. Turned out the cables from preamp to power amp had just enough crud on them that the grounding there was suffereing. A little deoxit and I have been back in business.
