...I know Al Sekala (RIP) loved them driving his Magnepans at 500w/ch.

But I wonder if anyone else has had experience with them.

If so what speakers did you use?

I used them for a while with Maggie 3.6's. I am a tube guy but I thought the Raptors were the best sounding ss amps I ever heard. Replaced them with Berning Zh-270 amps. I would highly recommend the Gilmore amps

mkuller should make sure he can drive them properly, though. I think their input impedance is pretty low, if I recall correctly. Passive systems would be hard-pressed, I suspect.

But a very fine amp, no doubt.

single ended and 16k balanced, per a discussion I had with Mark Gilmore a while back. I owned a pair for years and was very happy with them driving my Infinity RSIIB speakers. I sold them after I built my 200wpc SET monos. The Gilmores are excellent sounding amps, but no match for a monster DHT tube amp!*

*Except on hot summer days when the tube amps can heat the room quite a bit, even with AC...

...other than Maggies.

I heard them on Al's Maggies but I have Thiel 7.2s.

...gain switch.

And a 30 day trial period.

And almost requires a SS preamp for optimal results.

Sounded great with my Infinity RSIIb speakers. Planar mids and tweeters, cone woofers in sealed cabinets.
