VTL MB 250's leaking oil under both units. They sound fine but I've parked them. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Hey Lightloopy,

Do not know how close Churchville is to Philly but I can cheerfully recommend Bob Backert.

He has done both modifications and repairs on my premier 12's.

Great work and wonderful to deal with.

Appreciate the recommendation. Looks like he is about an hour or so from Delaware and well respected. I will reach out. I have a Premier 16 that is making an intermittent crackle out of one channel so that will need looking into also. I am already missing that big tube magic.
Thanks!

I do not know about Philly, but in the DC area there is Music Technology, run by a former/current Conrad Johnson designer - cannot recommend them enough.

I've taken a lot of stuff there. Really nice people, fair pricing very knowledgeable and like to work on tubes primarily. Bill Thalmann at Music Technology is also outstanding.

Yes, Bill Thalmann is great as well. I had him mod a PV11 for me over a decade ago. Great to deal with and fair pricing. Did not remember as I saw the poster asking about Philly area and I know the Backert Boys are in PA.

Ole lightloopy is in great shape either way.

Peace Out!

Both those names appear to be highly respected in the community. I have sent an email to Bob Backert and will post follow up later.
Appreciate all the help!
Cheers.

I live a half mile away and can also say they do a great job with repairs, customizations, and recently their own tricked out pre-amp.

They work together with Steve Monte of Quest For Sound in Bristol PA (I95 and 132 area)

I did speak to Mr. Tebbe from RHB. He gave me the impression they prefer modifications than repairs. Waiting to hear from him. We'll see..

They do prefer mods, but they also repaired my Counterpoint. Call Quest For Sound, Steve Monte, who can also help you out.

I sent Stephen Monte an email and he promptly got back to me. I plan on taking the amps to him. Thanks for all the help. Much appreciated.

Good deal, hope it all works out as you plan. Steve usually gives a free estimate before doing any work which is a nice plus. His turnaround usually is pretty good also.

Just some follow up. I took my preamp and amps to Stephen Monte at Quest For Sound. I highly recommend him. He diagnosed and had the repairs completed quickly with great communication. The system sounds great.
He is also a great guy and I enjoyed meeting the staff. They made you feel very welcome and are true music lovers.
