The blue dress is a nice touch too.
;D
Slick was lucky to be "the man" when times were good. If i were president, i would sure want to be "it" when things were going well.
Imagine how much it would suck to have the computer or housing bubble burst on your watch or worse, be in charge when a 911 or big Hurricane happened?.
Imagine if the media had decided to focus myopically on your cigar dips, or the stain on Monica's dress instead of the Bi-partisan looting of the S&L's, oh wait, that's what really happened.
Come on now ENO.The only thing that made our balanced budget was the dot com boom and that didn't matter who was there..I don't really believe we had a surplus because if we did,why did we keep raising the debt ceiling back then.It seems to me that if you have all these surpluses,it would lower the national debt and clearly we can see it did not..If Clinton wouldn't have given that super computer to China and would have at least limited Nafta,I would have said he was a great president but those two issues along with out of control military spending by our politicians, are the cause of our problems today.

Thanks.
Clinton and Johnson. Before that Eisenhower. Carter, Reagan, Bush 41, Bush 43 and Obama haven't come close.

nothing was used to pay down the debt under clinton so what good is a balanced budget in that case? I think Eisenhower had a balanced budget his first term.Anyway, all our surpluses came from the dot com, which was short lived because the bubble burst..We had the industrial boom for the teens and 20s and then, the bubble burst once again.

...the five former Democratic Presidents (Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, Lyndon B. Johnson, John F. Kennedy, and Harry S. Truman) all reduced public debt as a share of GDP, while the last four Republican Presidents (George W. Bush, George H. W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, and Gerald Ford) all oversaw an increase in the country's indebtedness.
Of course a "conservative" will spin this, but we know "conservatives" here are simply Republican dupes reposting Limbaughisms.
increased under every president including Clinton..I simply don't buy those big surpluses because they were projected surpluses if the economy remained constant..We had the dot com burst and that killed a lot of revenue..My point is,if all these supposed surpluses really existed, the national debt would have dropped..The national debt increased under clinton by over a trillion and we weren't even at war.Its increased under all presidents so it makes me think that budgets are nothing more than spin from both sides.
