Later Gator,
Crank up your talking machine, grab a jar of your favorite "kick-back", sit down, relax, and let the good times roll.

I´m determined to actually clean the "to be cleaned" pile of records that have been blocking the hallway for months... Most of it is classical, finds of weeks ago, sometimes i say to myself why did i buy this?
Spinning now: Saint-Saens 2nd piano concerto/Schumann Carnaval, Gregor Sokolov/USSR SSO/Jarwi/Melodya. Upcoming: Menuhin, Segovia, Bream&Williams, Brendel, Barenboim...
..old ones are gone. No spinning for me, maybe tonight.

Since it's about election time I figured I needed a bit of the soundtrack from my radical past so I dug out the old...Jefferson Airplane - WORST OF JEFFERSON AIRPLANE
Firesign Theater - NOT INSANE
Firesign Theater - WAITING FOR THE ELECTRICIAN or SOMEONE LIKE HIM
Country Joe and The Fish - LIFE AND TIMES
I think my choices show who I will vote for. That is the end of my political commentary.
PS. That Bruckner recording is a splendid choice. I think Karajan was about the best (modern) Bruckner interpreter.
Just picked up "All Hail Marx(Groucho) and Lennon: How can you be at two places at once when you're not anywhere at all?" Memories from my radical childhood.
...you know the one, "oh Mickey you're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind...". She loves to clean and listen to records with me, and I got that single in a garage sale haul. They were so dirty though, so I had to wait until I got the 45 accessories for my VPI record cleaner and some appropriately sized Disc Doctor brushes. After that, we cleaned and played a 12" 45rpm copy of "Material Girl" from Madonna and discussed the meaning of the song.Slowly but surely she is learning to use all of the equipment, and she has a radio she plays a lot.
She has a great heart...as I was switching my Discovery Essence interconnects to the turntable from the SA-CD player, because I only have one RCA set, I said I needed to get another pair some day. She asked me if I wanted a set for Christmas. I told her they would be an expensive gift...and she guessed $1000. Obviously she already understands this can be a very expensive hobby...
I'm listening to the Sundazed re-issue of his first album, Song Cycle . What oddly wonderful music!
I used to think I was Van Dyke Park's only fan. Most people who have listened to "Song Cycle" seem to not care for it. I think it may be because his music demands that it be paid attention to. Personally I've always found the album intriguing and I can see why Brian Wilson was so enamored of his music back in the day.
Bob Scobey's Frisco Band with Clancy Hayes, Banjo & Vocals. Good Time Jazz 12006, 12009, & 12023 (1955 & 56) Wonderful - great fun!!
"If the only tool you have is a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail".
I feel iree.
Merrie Englandes Musyk Thyng & Ye Grene KnyghtePicked this up a few weeks back and only listened to side one. Not bad, but side two is a mind blower. Vision and technique to burn.
As a side note, I seem to be on a roll of picking up British folk music. In the last three weeks I have picked up some Pentangle and some Incredible String Band. All from different sources. Also got some domestic folk stuff on Electra including the for LP box set. When it rains, it pours.
Got a Technics SP-10 MkII a few days ago, just got it dialed in. Sam Cooke sounds wonderful!
I wish it were one lp without some of the filler, but the great stuff is great. Before that, a minty first pressing of Giant Steps in stereo. Oh man what a record.
...in mostly the “folded down from stereo” type of mono. One of the not-so-craptacular Beatles LPs on Crapitol.
Fennell and EWE in glorious mono. Fascinating to compare with the same works (Fennell/Cleveland Winds) on early Telarc. Somewhere along the line, Freddy got laid back...or the Cleveland players couldn't keep up with the kids from Rochester.
JATP, July 2 1944 & Song for My Father, so far.
Radiohead 'Hail to the Thief', 45RPM import.

180 gram 45 RPM from Analogue Productions. This is really a nice album, plenty of emotion on these tracks.
4 fifteen-minute long sides.
Smile Smile Smile
After all that is what Brian Wilson really was up to anyway. He just wanted you to Smile.
The Beach Boys were really way out in front of the crowd when Brian was laying this album down.
So finally he has released it and it is all we had hoped for from the genius form Hawthorne , California.
I'm listening to her new vinyl release "The Evening of My Best Day" and it's excellent.

Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band - Safe as Milk
...actually playing vinyl when this thread starts. Usually I'm taking apart a computer or something like that.Tonight's selection:
Columbia MS6305, Chopin Polonaises, Brailowsky
A six-eye, pretty common and well recommended for those who like a little power in their Chopin.
