That is one amazing piece of kit!
The first generation Athena is the one with the suspension springs. It made it much more difficult to level, without any sonic gain that I can detect. Yes, the springs are pretty heavy duty, with a goofy tension adjustment. When I built the plinth for it, all of that will get tossed.
I have the headshell off until my new cartridge gets here, hopefully tomorrow. I've been going digital now for a week! I found a link to an old post with a pic, though.
Sweet table.Keep us informed as you change the plinth. I like the unsuspended maplenolls as once they are level, they stay that way. Good luck and nice start with the headshell.
