As a Brit I have been using them recently fairly regularly for their excellent range of vinyl replay accesories. A terrific and reliable dealer. However, as you say they have a reason and as Volunteer explains, their reluctance to supply this particular product to the USA probably contravenes their dealer arrangement with Henley Designs, the UK distributor.

If that is the case, then it isn't what they told me. They said the unit doesn't come with plug adapters and I don't think that is true. I did see other items on their site that said UK ONLY, but not the Pro-ject. They have some good prices on cartridges too.
Actually I was a bit surprised at your enthusiasm for Analogue Seduction on prices. They have many merits but in regard to price they usually sell at manufacturer's recommended price or close to.
I have found you another UK retailer who offers a real saving (175 gbp v. 229gbp).
Sevenoaks are one of the three big chains for AV products in the UK. If they also won't sell it to you then you you can be pretty sure that ex-EU sales are embargoed by the distributor via their contract with the dealer (of course when we Brexit that will become ex-UK!).
As you said, adaptors are irrelevant as you can source them locally.
Analogue seduction raised their price from just a couple days ago on the Pro-Ject. I looked on Sevenoaks and it is a bit cheaper, but I can't find info for what it would be without VAT or what shipping would be unless I actually made the purchase?
It doesn't matter as I see that Sevenoaks say in their "Ordering Information" link :"International Orders
Sevenoaks Sound & Vision will not deliver to an address outside the United Kingdom "As a general point then, goods from the UK without VAT will be 20% cheaper. However shipping is another matter and with relatively low value items that attract an import tariff it may not be economically viable. There is the shipping charge itself of course which varies from carrier to carrier. Import duty to the USA is for electrical items of this nature, from when I last looked at the tariffs, is something like 4.6%. However the main obstacle is the charge made by the carrier for handling the customs work. This is a fixed fee irrespective of the value of the item and can range from around 10 g.b.p to ( with one of the main companies) over 25 g.b.p. Dollar equivalents would apply in your case of course. Note that most exporters won't be aware of the size of these charges as they never form a part of quotes from the carriers as the exporter does not pay it. It comes as a surprise to the recipient when Mr. Fedex knocks at the door.

Darn them. Looks like some German dude is selling them on ebay for the same price shipped as Sevenoaks or Seduction. Don't see a VAT option for that one either. And it also has a comment "International items may be subject to customs processing and additional charges." Can't a guy get a break?

In your situation I would email or phone the German company ( remember the time zone so probably when you get up in the morning) and ask. There is a fairly good chance that they will speak English if you don't have German as it is a common second language there.
German VAT is 19% so that will be your saving. However the rest of the charges made at your end of the transaction will not be known until the carrier knocks on your door. My attitude when buying from abroad is just to expect them as a generality and take a "luck of the gods" attitude. However, because of the fixed yet unknown charges I would never buy a single disc, for example, when ordering from the USA or Japan as otherwise the charges will inevitably make the transaction uneconomic.
So I would think that if you budget for the price of the component plus, say,$25-$50+ (?),given this small item's size and weight, for packing and shipping plus < $30 customs duty and customs processing charge you may be pleasantly surprised if it turns out to be less and not too put out if it comes to a little more. If you want an exact sum now then that won't be possible to calculate.
However as you are buying froma 230V 50Hz country you will also need to add the cost of a transformer to see if you actually make a saving over just purchasing locally. I am guessing that 60Hz will not prove a problem.
Sadly there is no break.
