I was looking forward to these after they were announced, and it sounds like they are a disappointment.
Follow Ups:
There have been some quality issues in regards to surface noise and some warps but the sound quality is to me excellent. I have Meddle, Dark Side and The Wall 2016 remasters and all are better than my current selection which is Meddle later UK pressing, Dark Side 2003 remaster and The Wall audiophile Japanese pressing. I really thing they are outstanding in the detail and bass.
I find the music softer and less dynamic. Vocals are pushed back and everything is a little less upfront.
One of these Days is menacing and dynamic sounding on my Capital, sounds distant and compressed on the reissue. No jump factor at all.
Yeah the bass and treble are there, its the compressed dynamics that ruin it for me. Not such a big factor on the more acoustic numbers on side one, although San Trope definitely also looses a little something compared to my Capital. I play this album all the time so I know it like the back of my hand. Maybe this new version will grow on me but I doubt it.
