I think the link at the end of the article is more interesting (and worrying) than the article itself.
The linked piece claims that the current phase of "hipster" popularity of vinyl is overloading the surviving production facilities, with the result that quality is not only lower than we would like, but unsustainable too.

I think that description is true of anyone who has serious hobbies. They enjoy their time alone.
