On ebay. Crazy money. Wish I had one to sell. Anyone here have one? See link below.

If this sale goes through, it was very well sold. Probably worth a whole lot less next year.
My vinyl is stamped in the dead wax like the original pressing but the jacket has multiple split seams which I taped. The vinyl is noisier than I prefer and I don't believe it is as rare as the seller says.
Still spinnin'...

No matter the veracity of the seller's claims, his copy still sold for $10,000, so it's rare enough.
Here's my two copies of TMWSTW, both bought new. The "cartoon cover" is the fake or pirate copy, bought out of a cut-out bin in 1976 or 1977. It has hand-written matrix numbers and the sound quality is poor. The cover art is quite good, it's a convincing fake. The "dress cover" is a recent reissue and an EU pressing. Very good sound quality, nice to finally have a decent pressing of this great record.
As for the Ebay auction, are people insane? I've always believed the original Mercury USA cartoon cover was uncommon but not especially rare.
Your European reissue is very attractive. I've probably spun this LP more often than any other in Bowies' catalogue.
I've seen many copies of the bootleg version but found the original early on and did not really make of an effort looking for additional copies. I have a German copy with an alternate cover that I play for quality sound.

You made me run down to my records, I just listened to this one last week! I had to check mine... Mine is clearly marked "counterfeit" from the record dealer I got it from - darn it :)
I didn't get it either, is the real copy on the left or right? My copy is like the one on the right and has a hand cut matrix number.
But I've seen a few authentic copies in my time.
Just ISN'T THAT rare.
Seems some folks fell (to Earth?) for the hype and it drove the price up.

I don't get it?? I couldn't find a verbal description in the ad. What is the difference between the two albums. Sorry if I'm being thick...
Yeah, that auction's description was a train wreck of poor writing and tangled explanations. If the matrix numbers are stamped by a machine, not hand-written, that is apparently the mark of an authentic copy.
