Old school indeed. 12" 45, vocal and instrumental on each side.
Appears to be an "Endless River" kind of thing - Bernard Edwards, Tony Thompson, and Luther Vandross credited. Rodgers apparently took an old groove they had cut and reworked it. Classic sound, but definitely updated - even a very brief hint of scratching.
What else can i say? It's like they never left (or died). Hope Rodgers can keep the level up on the upcoming LP. Aaaaaah…freak out.
Follow Ups:
Read his book, "Le Freak," yet? It's a lot of fun.
So what's this new LP of which you speak?
Out in June.
Article doesn't mention it, but an interview I read (don't remember where)with Rodgers mentioned that the single was based on an unreleased old track. Not sure how much of the album will be - could be that the bulk of it will be a Nile Rodgers solo shot under the Chic brand. Anyway, the single rocks.
