This week's WTF will be my last for the foreseeable future. I'm pretty much out of ideas and ashamed to admit I haven't spun a record since
last July, when I got divorced.
During the divorce, which took 8 months, I spent my evenings listening to records on my headphones into the wee hours of the morning.
Every night, 4 to 6 hours a night, for 8 months. My wife and I lived together during the divorce and spinning records was my escape.
Since the divorce I associate listening to records with those bad times. So, I'm taking a break.
I'll get back to it, but am enjoying my second system now instead.
I hope someone steps up and keeps WTF going. Folks seem to enjoy it and I think a fresh take on it would be good.
Cheers.
Dean.

it took 2.5 years to get my "D" because she was jerking me around. but the fresh air i inhaled walking out the door was exhilarating. something like that highlights some priorities but when things even out, it will be nice to get back to the music.
you will be missed and be welcomed back with open arms.

You did a great job, your efforts are appreciated!
I've really enjoyed your posts and the WTF strand has always been worth searching out.
Enjoy your break. All here will be happy to see you when you feel like popping back, myself included.

"... only a very few individuals understand as yet that personal salvation is a contradiction in terms."
The vinyl spinning during those tough times helped you keep going and maintain an element of hard-to-find normality in such a situation.
We never forget who our real friends are, and vinyl - as ever - proved to be a real friend when you needed it.
You put a lot of time and effort in WTF and like you, it was high in quality.
I'm not sure I ever responded, but I always swung by vinyl asylum to check out your choices.
Thanks, and enjoy the break!

"If you are the owner of a new stereophonic system, this record will play with even more brilliant true-to-life fidelity. In short, you can purchase this record with no fear of its becoming obsolete in the future."
...else will I get all of these free turntables? Hurry back.
Later Gator,

All the WTFs have been a ton 'o fun and added some life to the forum.
Mucho gracias!
I've really enjoyed WTF and have looked forward to it every week. Thanks for putting it together, great job!
I understand, we all need to take a break when needed.
..Thanks for the enjoyment of WTF !
Well, all I can say is WTF. . .
I want to thank you for starting the WTF threads. I looked forward to them every week. Just went through the divorce myself, and thank goodness the music was there at times. And, as others have said, don't come back soon--I mean, where else are you going to find such an odd collection of ol' farts? :)
Dean - Good luck and best wishes, and remember --
Music is the ideal girlfriend. You can dump her without explanation, then come back any time and she'll be right back with you, no questions asked.
You can lavish immense time, money and effort on her, or next to none. It makes no difference to her.
She will never complain about you, compare you to her other boyfriends, or get jealous of your other girlfriends.
She can help you through hard times. But remember she's there for the good times too.
And best of all, your times with her can be immensely satisfying and leave you with a lifetime of great memories.
Here's hoping you and music get back together again soon. ;)
Dean, I respect what you must be going through its not easy but time heals.
Established a tradition :)....

I have enjoyed the WTF posts Dean, thank you .... actually I enjoy reading all your posts.

fwiw I thought your format provided motivation, for those interested, to learn more about so many different turntables from the past and present. Many were models we might never have known existed.
Sorry to hear about the divorce. Understood if you don't feel like being the 'game master' in this series of interesting posts.

I very much enjoyed your WTF posts. I will miss them. Thank you so much for them.
Your posts of vintage TTs tempted me to the point of scouting out a 4th vintage TT, for better or for worse, as currently I have space for just one at a time. Headphones are probably the perfect therapy for the process of divorce in a shared household. Best of luck.
But do what you have to do. Divorce can leave some bruises, as I well know. Take care.
...I just need a break.
I am traveling the next four Fridays and won't be around anyway. Maybe with a month to think about it I'll come up with some good ideas for WTF.
If you guys like WTF that much, I'll be back.
As for me, personally, no worries. Life is really good and the divorce was the best thing that's happened to me in a long time. I'm happier than I have been in years.

years ago I lost my Wife to ALS at a the young age of 44 ... couldn't listen to music for a while.
My situation was a walk in the park compared to yours.
I'm fine, fully adjusted and having more fun than I have in over a decade. Life is good.

I've been through a divorce too, certainly that was no walk in the park either.
Dean, if I may, your WTF post, although I don't participate, is always of interest. Perhaps you might re-consider, think of it as a form of therapy amongst friends.
