going to concentrate on top models and no repair service

I guess Benz cartridges now will be only appreciated by those with pretty deep pockets. Too bad as I really like my Glider.
My Ace will be retipped by Soundsmith or someone when it's time comes. They're very durable, so I see an aftermarket for their cartridges.
Anything less than an Ace was not made by Benz, so that is not the issue. However, when the prices got hiked above the original $600, then $750, forget it. We will look elsewhere: Probably Asia!
They really had a wide range, lots of models and each with several output choices ... No wonder that they gave that up. Too much inventory, too much pressure... I think

I'm glad I went to the Dynavector XXII-Mk.2. Hopefully dynavector won't pull this BS also.

with the proper arm. I was really surprised how close the Glider I had came to the Shelter 901 before the 901 was broken in. Still the Glider was really good and I really hated to get rid of it but I got back most of my money I paid for it and that went to offset the Shelter 901 purchase and Teres.
The High gear is getting way out of hand and is now only for people with deep pockets.
This is why I'm searching for really nice cartridges in the $400-$800 for the future. I have Audio Technica AT15Sa with Shibata tip. Man, that cartridge is really nice sounding once it's setup properly and has really change my mind about spending BIG bucks on cartridges that only give very slight increase performance of the music for large sums of $$$.
The Shelter 901 is the last Buck cartridge may ever buy. I have been really happy with it and I have no urge to look for something better. I will just have it retipped by Soundsmith when it's time. I Also picked up a Beogram 8000 and repaired myself for the everyday use. :)
I am also on the hunt for a new cartridge, since my micro has died.

Dynavector 10x5 is on the list. Needledoctor, where I bought my benz suggest a Ortofon 2M Bronze.
My budget drastically reduces choices.

Given those choices, I think you'd like the Ortofon better than the Dynavector (since you liked your Glider). The DV-10x5 sounds quite threadbare by comparison to the Glider. Even better and still fairly affordable are the new Ortofon Quintet lineup. Just my $.02
