Listening to Johnny Rivers as I type. What a beautifully made and fun toy. I see this table getting lots of use.

Can the Nomad be used as a main table? Do you have to listen to it through headphones?
Yes. Connect it to the line level of a preamp or integrated. Don't use an external phono stage. The internal phono stage cannot be defeated. No headphones required.

Yes, you can use it as the main but you can't put the internal phono stage is not defeatable. There are RCA jacks in the back. A real nice combo is a pair of KEF or Audio Engine powered speakers.

Regardless of what table you buy or own as long as you're spinning vinyl you're doing the right thing!
Glad you're enjoying it Wendell! We'll have to talk about the Prime next so we can have a vinyl party with John :)

Now that VPI has the Traveler and the Nomad ,they could continue with that meme.
How about the Wanderer ,the Seeker ,the Pluto ,the Trekker ,etc.
enjoy,

Hi
From the UK side of the Atlantic, all I can say is "well done, VPI!" It's pretty good value even after being imported here. Impressive that it's US-made (apart from the Ortofon cartridge).
It received a most appreciative review in Hi Fi Choice this month.

I have it sitting by my chair in the den. Don't have to go downstairs to the dedicated room when I want a casual listen. Makes for enjoyable headphone listening.

It comes with a 3D arm at an attractive price of $3500. If you buy this one, I'll come over and make some DSD recordings with my new TASCAM DA-3000 for you to listen to in your den. You can use an ifi Nano iDSD DAC to listen through headphones. ;-)
If "Secret Agent Man" is on there, then OK.
"Once this was all Black Plasma and Imagination" - Michael McClure
Yes, Secret Agent Man is on there. Good record. Sounded great on the Nomad through Sennheiser headphones.

Let's see....I have the Nomad, the Traveler, HW-19 Mark III, Rega RP3, Technics SL1200, Technics SL-1300, Dual 1219 and Thorens 124. I'm good....for now.....

You just need one VPI Prime and perhaps a Technics SL-1200 for nostalgia. ;-)
...your wife thinks so.

I will probably thin the herd. The Thorens was a project to have the table and arm rebuilt and a nice plinth made. Since I have zero skills I had to pay for the journey. Now that it's complete I may dispose of it if I can recover my investment. Otherwise, it sure is nice. There is something about each table I like and enjoy. So busy raising the grandchildren the main system doesn't get played very often. That is the appeal of the Nomad. It's here at my fingertips.
