"Sonatas for Violin and Piano" by Brahms and Debussy, with an encore: Bartok's ultra-charming Romanian Dances.
The sound of the instruments--violin and piano--is remarkably full-bodied and warm.
The piano remains crystal clear throughout, whether we're talking the shimmering accompaniment in the first mov't of the Debussy sonata, or the Brahms sonata, which contains a lot of "beefy" thick chords south of middle C.
The violin sound is just as easy to listen too. Very intimately projected, but never strident.
As a bonus, the relatively unknown artists--Julie Steinberg, violin and David Abel, piano--find more in the music IMHO than the generally recommended performers: Chung/Lupu in the Debussy and Suk/Katchen for the Brahms.
If you're not a big fan of Chamber music, I still think you wont be disappointed. The autumnal Debussy is richly colored and the Brahms Sonata is one of his most lyrically-generous pieces.

No longer available on LP?
The Wilson site lists this recording as avaliable in Aug. 2014; I suppose this is just the high-resolution download?

I bought the LP when it first came out and loved it since day one. The opening movement of the Brahms is as beautifully done as any recorded or live performance I have heard.
Thanks for the pic, but I assure you I'd have grabbed it in a heartbeat in any case.
Here is one that has surprised me.
Standard thrift pick hope for the best, clean and remarkably quiet surface, and the stereo is more like mono, perfect.
The copywrite for the notes on the jacket back are 1961, so the record is pretty darn old.
Great tunes done by capable guys ;)

"the stereo is more like mono"
Wasn't it originally released in 1958 in mono?
