Hi all,
I am living in the south of France and will spend around ten days in NYC in august.
I would love to bring back some good old lp's of jazz and classical. (Columbia, Blue note, etc..)
I can't bring back a lot (weight and plane restrictions) but could around 8 or ten I presume.
Where should I go ? (I will not be able either to drag my wife for a week from garage sales to thrifts shops...
Thanks for your advice,

Thanks so much!!!
You made my day .
I will update you with my purchase on my return.
All the best,
"West Side Records" north side 72th St 100 ft west of Broadway
Jazz Record Center in Chelsea: the store is on the 8th floor of a nondescript office building, but don't be deterred. I haven't been there is several years, but it is an essential stop for the jazz collector.
If your taste runs more towards free jazz and "new" music, the Downtown Music Gallery (www.downtownmusicgallery.com) is another must stop. Although much of their stock is in cds, they do have quite a bit of vinyl. Unfortunately, Manhattan's ruinous pace of gentrification has forced them out of their convenient East Village location and down below Chinatown close to the base of the Brooklyn Bridge, but on the other hand a walk there offers a tour of New York far from the tourist masses.
Here you go:
classicrecords.com (Albert ten Brink sells out of a storage unit; call for appointment)
inlivingstereo.com
Academy Records, 415 E. 12th Street, between 1st Avenue and Avenue B
Earwax Records (indie LPs) 218 Bedford Ave., Brooklyn
Other Music, 15 E. 4th Street (Afro rock LPs)
Permanent Records, 181 Franklin St., Brooklyn
Second Hand Rose Music, 48 E. 12th Street
Turntable Lab, 120 E. 7th Street (club/dance LPs)
Breakdown Records (used roçk LPs) 48-09 Bell Blvd, Queens
VP Records (reggae), 17-21 Jamaica Ave., Queens
And the best classical source I know: Polyphony record and tape auction, which comes out a few times each year. He just released a new catalogue. Not in New York, but an excellent supplier - I have been buying from him for many years.

New Orthophonic High Fidelity
I would add Irvington Records in Portland, Oregon. No auctions but very fair prices and excellent grading.
