i have a Sansui SR 525 turntable which has a tonearm with knife edge
bearings. i have experience adjusting the bearings on arms which are not knife edge, but no experience with knife edge. firstly are knife edge bearings normally "sloppy" meaning allowing the arm tube/weight assembly
to be moved in the bearing support both fore and aft, and side to side?
secondly, are knife edge bearings capable of being adjusted or are they
assembled as a module and only replaceable with a new module?
any help will be much appreciated

I'm familiar only with SME knife edge bearing tonearms. They are simply knife edges riding in a groove so, yes, they can be moved when lifted slightly. The weight of the tonearm keeps pressure on them and keeps them in the groove. There is no adjustment necessary for which I am aware.
