After a busy Thursday at work, time to come home, shower, and return my mind correct with the world after a much needed, refreshing, revitalizing 35 minute "POWER NAP"! (Okay, I will come correct. A shade and a sliver over 1 hour, but a nap that was needed, and I awoke refreshed)!Hence, hitting the turntable for a Thursday Night Vinyl Session, included;
*VIC DAMONE - "ANGELA MIA" c. 1958 Columbia Records #CL 1088
(On the deep red and black Columbia Six-Eye label! Great sound from V. Damone. An amazing LP)*STEPHEN STILLS == "Illegal Stills" c. 1976 Columbia Records
#PC 34148*McGUFFEY LANE - "McGuffey Lane" c. 1980 ATCO Records Inc.
#SD 38-133
(A very nice sounding country rock band from OHIO, reminds me of the best of The Eagles, POCO, McGuinn, Clark & Hillman and THE FLYING BURRITO BROTHERS, combined! McGuffey Lane had the look and the sound when country rock was huge at the dawn of the 80s decade. Remember them if you enjoy this genre of music!)*McGUFFEY LANE - "Let The Hard Times Roll" c. 1982 ATCO RECORDS, Inc.
#90020-1 (Even better than their debut LP! Wow! Ohio country-rock, great stuff here! Look for this band and their albums, music fans!)END - Of my Thursday Night Vinyl Session and Report to The Vinyl Asylum. Thank You.

Funny you should mention McGuffey Lane. I was just checking out their website a few days ago. I am originally from NW Ohio and McGuffey Lane was from Columbus. They were pretty popular in the early to mid 80's. I have all 4 of their Atlantic/Atco releases on vinyl, as well as their Christmas album. I saw them live once when they played the Hancock county fair. I think that was in '85. My favorite album of theirs' is the 1st one. It has my favorite song by them "Long Time Loving You".
Thank You for your reply. I only have those two McGuffey Lane albums I posted, but hope to find all of their albums sooner rather than later. What part of NW Ohio were you from? I grew up in Austintown, Ohio but moved to NoCAL in 1983. Met my wife in 1981 (she's from here) and were married in '85. Still happily married now. Three grown kids, all ours. Blessed with no anchors and baggage from ex-relationships, gone "belly-up".

"Some Folks Need An Education ... Don't Give Up Or We'll Lose The Nation" C. 1970 MARK FARNER of Grand Funk Railroad from "Sin's A Good Man's Brother"
I grew up outside Bluffton, Ohio. I lived in Findlay for about 7 years before moving west in '95. I've been divorced for about 12 years with no kids. The McGuffey Lane Christmas album was a charity deal put out in conjunction with Rax Roast Beef restraunts. Remember them? So that might be a tricky one to get.
(Enterprise/Stax Records ENS-2-5002)
(Columbia Six-Eyes CL 1486 Mono)
(Columbia JC 35331)
This has "Costello" replacing "Columbia" around the label.
I got three 45rpm sets today. Two of them are turning out to be pretty clicky, which sucks. It's going to suck to have to ask to do an exchange on two of the three sets I ordered. It's going to make me feel embarrassed, like I'm being a whiny baby, but on the other hand, repeating clicks are really distracting, especially when each one reminds me I paid $50 for it.
On the other hand, Herbie Hancock's Empyrean Isles(Music Matters) is great!
Long live the prog/art rock
listen to, and watch, Can all day. Can you?

A couple G.B.H. (punk) lp's.

And RSD release from our favorite new band:
CHECK OUT the AUDIO ASYLUM TRADER!
One of the digital record that sounds pretty good.
I like her playing, too.
Next up is a Stern/Berstein Beethoven VC in D
one of those digital Londons, VPO/Kondrashin, superb performance and good sound.
Your LP is the newer one with a very young Chung on the cover.
It would be interesting to hear against the Heifetz/Munch version.
The Stern/Berstein set was horrendous in both sound and the performance. ( not my thing at all )
Famous one is Zino Francescatti/Walter, Columbia symphony. Great performance with large warm sound and deep bass,
or Christian Ferras/Karajan, Berlin (to my ear his Beethoven and Brahms from the 60's are very very good, wonderful warm sound also with big orchestra)
I also own that Heifetz/Munch and Oistrakh/Cluytens, Paris Conservatory orch.
and the Stern/Bernstein, NYPO. I have a 6 eye copy from my late uncle and a Columbia Masterworks copy.
When I was young(15-20), I used to listen to rock n roll and some pop music from England(Cliff Richard, Tom Jones,.....). Then my youngest sister gave me a first classical record which was Tchaikovsky and Sibelius concerto played by Kyoung-Hwa Chung(conducted by Andre Previn). This was eons ago. I have many recordings of Tchaikovsky and Sibelius but it is still my favorite. I wish I was that young again.

I think I am gonna explore her other work further.
She sounded like a breath of fresh air after listening to Menuhin's Op.64. :x
All her recording is very good. But try to find her works on Bruch's Concerto and Scottish Fantasia and Bartok's.
