All the yummy vinyl.. i could spend way more than I can afford...
I nearly always buy used stuff locally.. But some of the stuff is not too expensive...
Help. I'll starve...
Follow Ups:
Holding out for that MoFi Music from Big Pink, the Monk Black Lion 45 RPM set and the Sundazed VU set. Keeping those in mind helps me resist the other items in the MusicDirect catalog. Keep eyes on the prize..
(though those OJC jazz titles are tempting).
I could also spend a fortune given the chance.
Although new catalogs do at least have advantage for keeping spending under control. The merchandise is new, and (usually) has a good quantity in stock. Thus, one can afford to have a cooling off period during which one asks: "Do I really want to buy this?"
Merchandise in thrift shops is typically one of a kind, and a case of "you snooze, you lose!" I have bought stuff I shouldn't have, just because of the heat of the moment, and a worry that the item will sell before I can get back to the store.
CENTERFOLD?!

I never could type worth a damn. I missed out on some jobs because i just could not type without errors. Practiced forever, still no good.
Just a disconnect between my fingers and brain.
Or even Natural Geographic...
Beautiful pictures of places I'll never visit.
It would be so easy to upgrade my VPI with one of those nice goodies.

I don't know what it is, maybe that a buddy of mine was always playing it...
our time in eden....in my tribe or other? got both eden and tribe a little while ago and enjoy both but eden especially for sound, content, pressing at qrp and price. the mofi 45 of tiger lily is still my favorite merchant though.
I just ordered a copy of Our Time In Eden myself. I've never owned a copy of this album, but I know I really like How You've Grown and Noah's Dove in addition to the big hits, so I'm looking forward to it. My first QRP record, too, actually.
If you like the indigo girls they have recently released ‘poseidon and the bitter bug’ and ‘beauty queen sister’ through vanguard. The acoustic sides 3/4 of ‘poseidon’ are especially good on my system and have gotten played a lot since i got it. They started their own label with ‘poseidon’ and did a good job on both vinyl packages with sound and pressing....I wish them success with that.
I do like the Indigo Girls, but like 10,000 Maniacs, I haven't listened to them much in quite a while(almost 10-15 years). So I haven't heard any of their albums since Swamp Ophelia. But I like that one and the ones before it. I should check out the new ones you recommended.
And also see if I can track down a copy of Everything But the Girl's "Walking Wounded" on vinyl while I'm thinking of female vocal stuff I listened to in high school. If you haven't heard Walking Wounded, I would highly highly recommend it. I love Tracy Thorn's reedy voice, and that album is IMO the best pop album that really captures the legit feel of the underground(at least here in the states) dance music of the time. It doesn't sound chintzy, or like someone dabbling with something they don't really know about. Anyway, I was really into techno and jungle back in those days, and that's the best electronic/pop crossover album I've ever heard. Not counting 80's synth pop necessarily.
poseidon is one of the better indigo girl albums for me with the album done in both a band sessions lp and acoustic sessions lp. there has to be clips of it somewhere on the net.
I was more into beth orton’s ‘trailer park’ for acoustic folk/trip-hop/electronica at the same time as ‘walking wounded’ came out. classic records did a great job on orton’s later ‘central reservation’. simply vinyl did a limited reissue release, I think only in the EU, of ‘walking wounded’ which when I heard it sounded better than the virgin original. You might want to look for that one
Lovely stuff. Very appealing. On the pricey side, nonetheless. Can't buy just one thing, you know!
I get Music Direct, Acoustic Sounds, Audio Advisor, and a couple others from smaller outfits. The ones with the prettiest glossy pictures make me want to buy. ;-)
Don't think they don't know that too.
My wife calls it audio porn. ;-)
