Finally I'm getting the 250M. I always wanted the M version but was never able to find one worth getting. I like the looks of that model. Bigger meters and a more traditional Marantz look than the standard 250 and 240. Truth be told I like the 240 faceplate.
Letting go of my 250, or in my case the 1200 integrated amp that is the 3300 preamp and 250 power amp, was one of the bad audio decisions. One that I always regretted. I have had a LOT of gear in my hands and that was one piece I always liked more than the others. I used to call my 1200 the velvet monster. Soft sweet and POWERFUL.
I'm having it restored professionally like the way Mike S would restore a tube stereo. Upgrading the problem points like relays, etc....
Here in Arizona even the Sherwood heats up the room. So in the summer months when the temps hover at 106 I do need a SS amp.
I'm really excited.
Funny how we or I come full circle in life. Started with a vintage tubes and a Marantz and now I'm ending with vintage tubes and a Marantz.

Cool!!I had a Onkyo m-508 (which looks sort of like the 250m) I bought back in the 80s while in the service. I used to pair it with Klipsch LaScalas of all things because?????
I must have thought a 200 wpc amp would be a good match for 100 db+ speakers - Kinda like killing flies with a 12 gauge.

Paul Klipsch was quoted as saying what the world needs is a good 5W amplifier. You exceeded that by 16 dB!

I just like putting holes in paper with my 9
If it sounds as good as it looks it should be a very enjoyable amp!
